Help Me Choose a New Car- Honda,Toyota, or VW? by Jazmyne
I am new to this community but it seems like I might be able to get some decent feedback. I'm in the market for a new car. What I'm thinking about for now is a 2004-05 Honda Civic Hybrid, Toyota Matrix, or VW Jetta. I do about 50/50 city and highway driving. But the highway driving I do is mostly...

Ridgeline first year woes...? by Jazz
Without my wife's knowledge, I am thinking of getting a Ridgeline... if nothing else, I am just toying with the idea for giggles... I have heard of many problems with any car company's first production year of a new model... Are there any owners of a 2006 Ridgeline (I think 2006 was the...

Honda CRV CD by jbeck
I left the lights on and had to have my car jumped. Now the radio, cd, and tape player don't work. There is power going to it, it just blinks ' err '. Anyone know what's wrong or how I might fix it?

Civic Hybrid - problem during the second tank of gaz by JBond
Hi, Was wondering if anyone has had problems with their Honda Civic 2006 - 08. I bought mine last spring and no sooner had I filled my tank the second time, the Motor's "Rotor" stopped working. The result is the engine kicks in directly, and starting the car picks up from the small ignition...

Failing catalytic converter code by jbourgeois
My check engine light has come on, showing a P0420 code. The most probable cause of this, I'm told, is a failing catalytic converter. No other codes show up. The car is 1998 Honda Accord with 133k. Does anyone disagree with the suggestion that I must install a new catalytic converter? If I...

Fuel system too lean code-- last try by jbourgeois
I have been getting an intermittent P0171 code, fuel system too lean, along with a P0170 code, fuel compensation value exceeded the specified range. To prevent a barrage of useless follow-up questions, here are the specs of my car: 1998 Honda Accord LX, 4-cylinder, 123k. New spark plugs...

P0170 check engine light code by jbourgeois
Lately, whenever I go for a long drive, my check engine light has been coming on. It goes off again the next day, before I have a chance to check it out. However, today I was able to have it read at Auto Zone, and it said P0170 (and the corresponding code for the 2nd bank). Both banks are low,...

Post-timing belt replacement questions by jbourgeois
I just recently had my timing belt changed, on a 98 Accord with 118k. The mechanic was not a dealer, but specializes in Hondas. They also replaced the balance, P/S, and A/C belts. Supposedly they use genuine Honda parts, but I noticed the P/S belt was clearly made by Mitsubishi. Anyway, I...

Additional repairs when changing timing belt-- advisable? by jbourgeois
I have received an estimate for changing a timing belt on a 1998 Honda Accord with 118k, and they included some additional repairs (without looking at the car): Water pump, 3 other belts (balance, A/C, and P/S), 3 seals (camshaft oil, crank, and balance) Are these other repairs necessary or...

Noise from right front wheel by jbourgeois
Recently I had some body shop repairs on my 98 Accord. The right front wheel rim was bent, and some suspension parts on that side needed to be replaced. Now I'm hearing a whirring/scraping sound from that wheel, when I reach speeds of 35 mph or higher. I don't really trust the body shop's...

$175 estimate for tune-up-- too much? by jbourgeois
I received a $175 estimate for a major tune-up, including replacement of spark plugs, wires, rotors, distributor cap, and air filter. There is a $45/hr labor fee, and an estimated time of 2 hrs. Is this too much? It sounds like too much time...

clock light not working by jbourgeois
I have a 98 Accord, and the clock light is not lighting up on the instrument panel. All other instrument panel lights are working. Is there a special fuse for this one light? Or is there an easy way to replace the "bulb" if there is one? Thanks for any help.

Low gas mileage for 1998 Accord by jbourgeois
I have a 1998 Accord with 117k. It gets 22 mpg in town and 32 highway. Recently I had an evaporation system repair: the 2-way valve and canister were replaced. Any thoughts on why the gas mileage is so low? Also, the engine "bucks" occasionally; in other words as I am driving forward it almost...
