This from the guy who doesn't understand the concept of viscosity index
and thinks that 30-weight oil is "always thicker" than 10w30...

Yeah. The price they charge for new cars is *highly* engineered....
Seriously, Toyota and Honda build very solid *engines*, no question.
But Honda automatic transmissions are the dregs of the industry,
especially...

I'm sure its nothing that straight 30-weight wouldn't cure, Jim.

How to replace distributor in 99 Honda CR-V? by
Steveo
What I really have no clue on is timing. I understand that I can't just
pull the old out, pop the new in and viola! Can anyone point me to
instructions, whether they be in a shop manual or other resource?
If any tools, ie timing gun would make my life easier, I am all for it!
TIA, Steve

Using A Different Oil Than Spec by
[email protected]
2001 Civic LX - Supposed to use 5W-20 (I think that's what it says on
the cap). I used 10W-40. It's what a mechanic recommended.
Not the 1st time I've used a diff oil than spec. Just wondering if
there can be bad consequences if I use the wrong motor oil?
Also, what exactly do those numbers and...

'95 Civic: Can't remove ignition key from steering column by
Steven L.[_2_]
I'm having difficulty removing the ignition key from the steering column
of my '95 Civic. I turn off the engine but the key won't come out. I
have noticed that if I shift the automatic transmission lever out of
Park and back to Park again, sometimes that tricks it into letting me
take the key...

'95 Civic auto trans.--hard to shift by
Steven L.[_2_]
I have a '95 Civic, about 85,000 miles on it (I don't drive it that much).
The automatic transmission shift lever used to be very easy and smooth
to shift. But not anymore. Now just shifting out of park into reverse,
or shifting from reverse into drive, that shift lever is getting harder
and...

UPDATE: '95 Civic with intermittent A/C failure by
Steven L.[_2_]
Hi all,
A while back, I asked for advice about a pesky intermittent A/C problem
I was having with my '95 Civic (80,000 miles on it). Namely, the A/C
just doesn't work much of the time; occasionally it favors me with some
cold air, but most of the time it doesn't. My regular mechanic failed
to...

'95 Civic--intermittent A/C cooling problem by
Steven L.[_2_]
I have a 1995 Honda Civic with only 80,000 miles on it.
There's a mysterious intermittent cooling problem that two mechanics
have so far failed to fix: The A/C just stops cooling after 15 minutes
or so. If I cycle the A/C off and on with the dashboard controls a few
times, it seems to engage...

95 Civic, weird A/C problem by
Steven L.
I have an old '95 Honda Civic with the following bizarre A/C problem:
On hot days, the A/C blows nice cold air, no problem.
But on mild days when it's just a little warm outside, the air coming
from the A/C keeps fluctuating in temperatu It's cold, then a few
minutes later it's warm like...

Why Would ABS Problem Require Replacing Control Arms? by
Steven L.
I have an old 1995 Honda Civic and the ABS light started coming on. I
took it to a mechanic who diagnosed it as a faulty left rear wheel
sensor. OK, fine, replace the sensor; sounds simple enough.
Then I get another call from my mechanic some time later: He rattled
off some gobbledygook that...

97 Honda Civic HX bad MPG by
SteveHX
I bought a 97 Civic HX 6 months ago and have put about 8000 highway miles
on it. I have only replaced the spark plugs when I first got it and got
close to 40 MPG. It has 88000 miles. In the last 1000 miles it is down
to around 33MPG (under same driving conditions). What should I look...

BAD PAINT: 1998 CRV (Black) by

Arup, I am an attorney and my sister had the same problem. The most I
have gotten so far was an offer from Honda to repaint the car. Problem
was what they offered only covered about 1/3 of the cost of
repainting.Exploring lawsuit now but since I am in Delaware, any
implied warranties only stay in...
