93 SL-1 oil burning help by Chris
I have a 93 SL-1 with about 150k miles that burns about a quart of oil for each tank of gas. Other than that the car runs great. Is there anything that can be done to minimize oil usage short of a rebuild? I've been told that additives only make things worse. What about a heavier oil? Thanks, Chris

93 SL2 electrical problems: NOW it gets WIERD by J.B. Bobbitt
Per previous post, I've been having some intermittant electrical problems. In short: it starts and runs well most of the time. Sometimes after it starts, the lights dim, the gauges quit, and the aftermarket CD player/radio turns on repeatedly. Once you shut the key off after that, the...

96 SL2 Post-repair problem by Fantine
I have a 96 SL2 that drives fine and has had very few problems over the years. Got SES light, brought it in to a local and (supposedly) reputable repair shop. Ended up having to replace the valve gasket cover. While the car was there, so we decided to get some maintenance done because the car...

I have a 97 SC2. The dislpay lights on my center column are going out one by one over the past few years. First the Trac, Defrost, and Foglamp buttons, then half the radio preselect buttons, now the temp/fan display on the bottom with the sliders. Also the lights for the ashtray cup holder are gone...

Replacing Tie Rod Ends Replacment question by rodod
I'm going to replace the tie rod ends myself and possibly the balljoints. I've done it on a ford but I've never done it on a Saturn. Is there anything to watch out for?

6th Planet - good experience by Barry Schnoor
I just had Joey ship a low mileage engine to my sister for her '96 SL2. Saved them about $700 compared to what the shop wanted to pull one from a junk yard and install it. They were a *little* slow shipping the engine, but I just got word from my brother-in-law that the engine has been installed...

96 Saturn, need change Belt/Gaskets now? by [email protected]
Hi, I recently have my 96 Saturn(80k mileage) changed oil in Firestone. And they did a free check on it, the report recommends: 1. 755K5 Poly-rib belt, remove/replace, Part cost $31.99, Labor $50 2. Gaskets, VS50218 Valve Cover Gaskets Set, Part cost $64.24, Labor $180 I think Gaskets change is...

Forget the Sky, here come SC3 by Brian Talley

pulsing brakes by Oppie
I had Saturn do a front brake job on my '01 lw300 about a month ago. They were supposed to change the pads and turn the front rotors. Was all good when I picked it up and stopped nicely. But over the last few weeks there has been an increasing pulsation on stopping. Tried pulling the E-brake...

Help with vacuum harness replacement on 95 SC1 (SOHC) by Mike
Hi, I have a 95 SC1 (SOHC) with a severed line on the vacuum harness. It's the line that goes to the throttle idle control, so I get wild throttle behavior at idle. On this engine, there is one other line for this harness that is used for the EVAP vapor canister (correct me if I'm wrong here). ...

'95 Saturn SC2 with codes 19, 26 and 32 by Bill
Hello all, My daughter just dropped off her '95 SC2 for me to fix up and I have a couple of questions. I flashed the codes and got 19, 26 & 32. From what info I've found in past posts, 26 & 32 are probably both pointing to the problems in my EGR or Canister solinoids. I'm about to go...

Thanks to the Group! - problem solved by Larry
My '96 SL has about 120K on it, and has been running good. I am cheap, and haven't spent much on this car. I do my own oil changes, and have never taken the car to the dealer for service except for stuff I couldn't figure out myself, the A/C had a $400 problem (fan) a couple of years ago, and the...

95 saturn SL2, stepping on the break pedal, it goes in soft and deep into the floor... by John Doe
I just got the new rotor and new break pad installed but the break pedal stills feels soft and goes in deep. It feels like the pressure isn't building up when I step on the break pedal. Any thoughts?

Blinking Temp & Coolant lights. 99 SL1 by reex01
The Temperture and Low coolant lights blink simaltaniously on my 1991 SL1 until the engine gets to normal operating temperture. Then they usually go off, but sometimes they will start blinking again. The coolant level is full (I just flushed the system and refilled to be sure that wasn't...
