Location of Cigarette Lighter Fuse in 2000 528i by
AED
My radar detector appears to have blown the fuse connected to cigarette
lighter. (lighter suddenly stopped working.) I found the a fuse panel
in the glove compartment and a map to which accessory each fuse is for,
but no cigarette lighter in the list! Are there more fuses in the
trunk, or did I...

520i touring rear seat belt problem by
aeroturbo
Hi,
I've got a 2000 520i (E39) touring. I've got a weird problem with the
centre rear seat belt. Can anyone help please?
A while ago when I tried to lift the backrest back up after having had
it lowered, I found that the seat belt was locked and wouldn't pay out
the belt. This needs to happen as...

battery woe by
af
2000 528i (E39)
I put a new Interstate battery in this car last summer. My car gets driven
about once a week. Today it would not start. In fact it was so dead, I could
not use the button on the key to unlock the door. I had to open the truck,
get a jump just to open the doors.
The shop said...

Electrical Harness by
[email protected]
I have a 2003 BMW 325xi. I know almost nothing about cars.
I took my car to the dealer last week because the engine was riding
very rough; the dealer diagnosed the problem as a cylinder not working
(due to issues with a coil).
A few days after I left the dealer, the problem came back, and I...

E36 convertible power window problem by
afreet
In the E36 convertible (I have a 1996 328 convertible), since there are
no upper frames on the doors, the power windows are designed in such a
way that when you close the door, the window is supposed to go up by
itself another 1/2" or so in order to make a firm seal with the top.
Recently, the...

Inconsistent Comfort Access by
ag
Several folks have said they have the same problem I do with comfort access:
it is inconsistent and you often have to hold the key by the window to get
it to work. Has anyone's dealer figured out the problem?

Comfort access and iDRIVE help by
ag
OK, I did as someone in this group suggested and had the software upgraded
in my 550i 2006. They did find several "software faults" and upgraded it.
But I still have both problems:
1) Comfort Access: works sometimes, sometimes doesn't (have to hold the key
up to the window to get it to work)

iDRIVE problem: Resolution? by
ag
2006 550i: Sometimes the iDrive just sits on the BMW screen for 15-20
seconds, sometimes it comes up right away. The dealer says "oh, other
2006's do that also". Has anyone else had this problem and did their dealer
solve it? How?

COMFORT ACCESS ISSUES by
ag
I have had a problem with the "comfort access" where sometimes the car
recognizes my key and sometimes it doesn't and I have to use the buttons on
the remote to unlock it. I tried changing the battery and that didn't work.
Has anyone else seen this type of problem? Is there a resolution?

SPORT PACKAGE 5 series by

What are your opinions on the SPORT package for the 5 series (looking at a
2006 model). Is it worth it? Does it make the ride rough?

new 550i iDRIVE problems by
ag
I just got a new 550 (about 300 miles) and sometimes the idrive screen comes
right up, and sometimes it sits on the "BMW" screen for 5-10 seconds. And
at least once it stayed on the "BMW" screen for the entire time I drove it
(about 15 minutes). Any ideas? Problems with the software?

Just picked up my new 550 by
ag
Drives fantastic. I resisted getting a bmw for 20 years, but I must admit
it drives great. However, the 'iDRIVE" is anything but intuitive. not
nearly as easy to use as my wife's lexus radio and navigation system.

Looks pretty good. They finally get rid of the "big butt" syndrome. I
wonder if they will do that for the 5 and 6 series redesigns as well.

545 vs. 550 by

What are the differences between the 2005 545 and the 2006 550 besides a
little more horsepower? Is it the same engine just tuned?

SMG vs. Steptronic by

I am buying a new series and have a choice of the SMG or Steptronic. They
look to have the same functions (i.e. automatic or manual) except SMG also
comes with paddle shifters. Opinions on which to get?

BMW 550 Electronic Problems by
ag
Well, I am a new BMW owner, about a 1000 miles. It is the most fun to
drive. But they really need to improve the electronics. Problems I have
had:
1) iDRIVE: sometimes it starts up right away, and sometimes it just sits on
the BMW screen for 10-15 seconds
2) CD Changer: Should be in the dash...
