C5 waterleak by FBNE
Greetings all. I am looking for advice on stopping a water leak over the driver door. The seal for the removable top doesn't hold water at the car wash, it leaks (read pours) in at the top left portion of the drivers window. Any suggestions to get it to seal properly again? I don't see any...

C5 Vanity mirror by FBNE
Greetings all, I managed to break the visor mirror loose from the visor. Seems like all I can find is the $90-100 replacement of the complete visor. Anyone have a source for just replacing the mirror assembly? I just can't bring myself to glue it to the visor. Thanks, Z 2001 coupe red

2001 C5 ground points - maybe by FBNE
I think I am battling some electrical gremlins. My turn signals work somedays and others it flashes once and quits. The hazard lights will work when the turn signals don't. Other days all is normal. The center console mounted environment display (AC - OAT, etc) goes dim and is unreadable as...

C5 alternator question by FBNE[_2_]
I had to replace the alternator on my 2001 and discovered there are two versions of alternator. One for auto trans and one for manual. The AT alternator has a clutch, the MT does not. Basically, what/why? What does the clutch do and why does it make a difference? Mine is an AT version.

C5 headlights - by FBNE[_2_]
Merry Christmas all. Either I am getting older or the headlights on my C5 seem to be too dim for me. It is especially troublesome on the low-beam side. It looks like the beam is "hitting" the road about 20 feet in front of the drivers side and only slightly better on the pax side. I have...

New fluid leak by FBNE[_2_]
I have a 2001 with 68K. It has suddenly started to drip fluid near the differential, dead center on the floor. The fluid looks and feels much like power steering fluid, no color at all, but oily to the touch. The PS level was low, but I can't imagine that system is routed near the back of the...

TPS C5 by FBNE[_2_]
I am starting to see some false readings on a tire pressure sensor. My C5 is a 2001 and I have replaced the tires three times in 60K and not replaced the TPS units. How long do these little devils last before they are completely toast? I have one that is questionable and three still accurate,...

C5 headlight out of sequence by FBNE[_2_]
My 2001 just started a headlight position problem. It cycles normally, but then winds up with the lid about 1" above where it should stop. It looks like it cycles and then runs that extra little bit. I tried a manual cycle with the headlight adjuster and it didn't seem to help. I do not have...

C5 windows problem by FBNE[_2_]
Seems like I must have hit the magical mileage mark that requires things to be replaced. The driver window has started to hang on lowering. If I run it back up an inch, it will lower another 6" and the I repeat the operation and get it rolled down. Does anyone have a link to door panel...

2001 C5 Sudden headlight motors fail by FBNE[_2_]
Dad, You have any experience with both headlight motors fail to cycle at once? I replaced a burned out running light on the pax side, I ran the lights open to remove the headlight box and get to the lower bulb. I put it back together and they wouldn't cycle anymore. The lights activate,...

C5 normal trans temps by FBNE[_2_]
I was bored in traffic today and scrolled through the displays. I showed a trans temp at 218 and the engine temp at 229. The OAT was reading 108, probably closer to 103 real world. What is the normal ranging for trans temp? I see the engine temp run anywhere from low 200s through 240...

Electrical whine -C5 by FBNE[_2_]
I have a new whine in the car, sounds electrical. The alternator is still putting out ~13.5 to 14 volts under load at fast idle. I can't tell if it is coming through the speakers or not, doesn't seem to be radio related. I run XM on a direct feed. Any thoughts on anything I should check...

Common ground C5? by FBNE[_3_]
I installed a new ABS module during the summer and solved my C1214 code problem. Recently it began a series of codes about every third or fourth start. The codes this go around are 1689, 1241, 1248, 1265, 1266, 1267, 1268, 1276. I have the description for all of them but was wondering if anyone...

Cmagic Wax is great stuff by fh
The National Corvette Museum is now using Cmagic wax in the R8C museum delivery program (PDI, pre-delivery inspection). They are also selling this magic wax in the museum store. I have tried it and am sold on the easy on and easy off. One oz will wax an entire Z06. See it at www.cmagicwax.com....

LT5 questions by [email protected]
I've been researching the LT5 engine from the ZR-1 Vette' but still have two questions that I can't seem to find answers to, hoping you guys can help: 1. Are LT5 crate engines available anywhere? GM doesn't list them as being available for purchase on the Goodwrench site and I simply can't believe...
