probably a dumb question, but I have to ask.... by [email protected][_2_]
I have an older car that sits a lot of the winter and I just fire it up occasionally, then drive it in the summer. The other day, I drove home, parked and then it would not start. The engine would not even turn over. Then I stuck the key in again and it almost threw the engine out of the car...

Transplanting a Peuguot 306 Turbo Diesel into an LDV Pilot Van. by [email protected]
Hi, I appreciate this is a very specific question but I thought I'd try.... In the UK we have shedloads of quite new (under 5 years old) Royal Mail vans getting sold for very cheap prices, but they are heavily abused by all the UK posties and more problematic is that the LDV Pilot is supplied...

Can an exhaust pipe be "epoxied"? by Stan[_2_]
First the background...the vehicle is a 93 Nissan Quest minivan, 6 cyl engine, with an exhaust leak. It has about 270K miles on it, and living on borrowed time, so putting in $500 to replace pipes is not very cost-wise. Yet I don't want exhuast fumes coming up & I'll have to pass the state's DEQ...

bad mold smell from 1997 Honda Accord AC by [email protected]
I have over 200K on my 97 Accord. I recently had one of the valves replaced on the AC unit where they removed the evaporator. They found a ton of mold in the evaporator case and cleaned it out with bleach. I always did often have a mold smell come out of the AC when it started up for a few minutes....

Transmission Cable on 85 Porsche 944 Needs More Tension by JD
I came into possession of the 85 Porsche in a convoluted way, and I am looking to eventually sell it. A good mechanic has told me that the cable hooked up to the transmission has become fused near the catalytic converter in the tunnel between the front of the car and the back and that it needs to...

Removal of evaporator core from 1997 Dodge full sized van by No Name
I finally got a chance to get out and work on this one. You must remove all the restraining bolts, from inside the vehicle and outside, and then you must disconnect all the controls, hoses, etc. Then , you have to remove the sheetmetal which holds the hood latch mechanism, and then remove the...

Should head bolts be lubed or un-lubed? What about thread sealer? by Doc
Getting ready to put a Toyota 7MGE engine together. A family member insists the head bolts should be lubed before torquing. Agree or no? If so, what's the lube of choice? Also, is thread sealer neccessary for this engine? Do the head bolt threads encounter the water jacket at all? Thanks.
