When did BMW's get sports mode? by really real
I sat in my cousin's 2010 381 Sports Wagon today and was amazed to see that it doesn't have sports mode. When did sports mode start? I suppose her 381 drives more sportingly than my wife's new 381 Sports Wagon drives in comfort mode. I know the older steering feels more precise, so I wonder...

BMW 3.0 liter diesel: any good? by GT
Please share your good and bad experiences about the 3.0 liter diesel as found in the 330 d or 530 d. I'm considering to buy a 330 xd built in 2001 with 100,000 kilometers and I don't want to do a mistake. Thanks for replying -- Best regards. Giovanni Tarantino Switzerland

M30 air intake manifold by [email protected]
I am about to buy a 1991 BMW 535i (in Canada) that has 345000 km and a leak in the air intake manifold as well as an engine oil leak. Price 300 dollars. Car still runs. I plan on repairing the intake manifold and sealing the engine oil leak. Then I will work on strapping on a hydrogen booster. ...

car alarm problems by really real
My wife's three month old BMW 3281 sports touring had it's car alarm going off this morning. It would stop and start again. We tried locking/unlocking, and then driving it and stopping. Eventually it stopped. How hard is it to disconnect an alarm system, or at least just the noisy part of it?

buying bmw 325 (2005 vs 2006) by Ruwan
I have reviewed the specs for the 2006 Bmw 325 however I am inclined to buy a 2005 for the following reason. +improved reliabilty due end of life cycle -first year production models are notorious for glitches/recalls -negotiating below MSRP will be impossible on the 2006. ( or it may have discounts...

Questions, questions, questions by Vernon Balbert
Okay, I've read about SMG and know that it stands for Sequential Manual Gearshift (or so I've read) but what exactly IS SMG? Also, why is it that in the 7 series if the engine is a 4 liter or less it's called the 7xxiL but if the engine is 4.5 liters or bigger it's called the 7xxLi? Vern

Ticketed for Road Rage! by maxima1
On my way to work this morning about 6:15 am. Still dark outside, a car with no lights moves abruptly into my lane w/o signals. I slow down. Suddenly his trunk pops open and junk and/or paper garbage starts flying out into my lane. I then decide to get around this idiot. I blow by him in a...

Brand new here looking for advice where/how to sell 88 BMW weinherited. by Doug Chadduck
I'm in CA, Bay Area. We inherited an 88 328i in remarkably good shape. We want to sell it but not quite sure where to start. It's not an old POS and we don't want to just give it away. I figure on hitting area dealers to see it they have any boards to post on. Maybe Craigs list but I hear a lot...

NASCAR Question by tech27
As a fan of motorsports, I occasionally watch NASCAR, although I much prefer F1. I often make the analogy that F1 is to Nascar as chess is to checkers. (-; While the F1 cars seem to be deftly piloted around the course, NAS-cars look like the are being driven by wild teenagers just trying to...

Just rolled over 100K miles...my take on BMW by [email protected]
Even though well maintained and only driven by me (and still looks great), I have to conclude the car has been.let's say, a bit of a POS....list of electrical ailments a mile long, total transmission failure at 86000 miles, and more electrical problems. By FAR, the most problematic pain in the ass...

BMW-525I - oil change frequency by AGIND
Folks, I got 15k miles oil change upto 30K from the dealer and then got an independant garage which specializes only in BMW to change the oil at 42K. Tail Lights E46 by Blue Agave
I recently purchased some replacement lights with the clear lenses for my 2000 E46. Installation was a breeze for the front and side lights. The tail lights went in fine, but when it came time to finish up, the inner cover (that actually holds the bulbs) would not snap into place on the...
