147 "Motor Control System Failure" - Problem by
Juan Tanameara
My 147 today (Sunday) has just presented me with the following fault "Motor
Control System Failure"
The hand book describes this as a fault with the ignition/supply.
What does anyone think this might be....
Can it be fixed by my local garage or is it a main dealer issue
Thanks
Alasdair

147 & other Alfa owners by
John
I am just after your advice. I really like the 147 and think it is
one of the best looking hatches on the market. I am interested to
know though if you have had many problems with your 147 or other Alfa
model? And if you have had the odd issue, how much has it hurt you in
the wallet to get it...

147 - Sat nav problems by
dazzer
The sat nav on my alfa is having problems.
It is working fine - until about 10 mins and then goes through a cycle
of switching itself on/off/on/off and then stays off. Swithcing it
back on and it does the same thing.
I took it into the dealer who said there was no loose connections and
that they...

147 1.6: Rattling at low revs by
Ruediger Barth
Hi all,
since three months I have my first Alfa (and my first car at all :-)),
a used 147 with the 1.6 Eco engine, three years old and ca. 30000 km
on the clock.
Sometimes, after the travel, when the car is pretty warmed up, and I
want to stop it, I hear a noise that make's me thinking:
I've read...

147 1.6TS Plenum in pieces by
POG
Hi All
As well as the cambelt on the trusty? 147 having stripped, the plenum
has "exploded" so it is in 2 pieces. Is this another foible of
Alfa’s, or is mine really special in needing a new one at a cost of
£600 on top of a head rebuild and probably having to wait for Guiseppe
in Torino to make...

147 2.0 TS Lusso - Motor Control System Failure & dealer recommendations by
Tom
Hi
I have recently bought my first Alfa and am really pleased with it. I can
now stop looking enviously at them when they go by.
It's done 55K and I was starting to look into where to get it serviced, but
today while driving through town a warning light came on and a message as
follows:
"Motor...

147 52 Plate by
[email protected]
Hi
i am looking at buying a 52 plate 147 1.6TS Lusso from a local garage.
It is showing 50K with main dealer history. I will probarbly get it
for about £4500 which doesn't seem too bad. Area there any major
service items coming up at this kind of mileage that I need to be
aware of and any other...

147 ABS/VCD Failure by
Kenny Ferguson
Hi, can anyone offer advice on an intermittent VCD failure on alfa 147.
Basically started out as the VCD failing at startup. The garage diagnostic
said yaw sensor failure (replaced). Car worked for 10 mins till first bump
in road! I recently drove 1000 miles on it and the VCD worked more than...

147 Air-con drain by
Dominic
My 147 needs the mod to the air con drain, to save the
passenger footwell carpet! Was in for its 3600 mile
service yesterday, it's less than 3 years old (3 years next
jan) so I was assuming they'd fix it. Ooh noo, 3rd year
warranty doesn't cover air-con pipes. They wanted an hour
of labour...

147 Airbags... by
cupra
My warning light has come on so it's being investigated, I'm sat in the main
dealers as I type and two others are in for the same problem - a trend
starting or bad luck?!
(at least my warranty is valid.... for another 3 weeks!)

147 aircon by
Tony Rickard
My wife is complaining her 147's aircon isn't getting cold like it did
(before it got hot today). Just tried it and I hear no audible click
turning the aircon off and back on. I do with my 156.
Do other 147 owners hear the compressor cut in if they turn the aircon on?
It is a 2003 with dual...

147 and engine undershield question. by
Paul Woodsford
I might have a problem with Alfa warranty relating to a foreign body
damaging the bottom of the Cambelt cover leading to the cambelt failing at
12000 miles.
Originally the 147 had a shield across the bottom of the engine compartment.
My 147 registered in Nov 2003 never had one.
Can anyone, who...

147 Boot Lock by
Timelord
Hello all,
The boot lock mechanism (part of the central locking system) on my 2002 1.6
Lusso 147 appears to be erm.... buggered.
After the saga of finally reaching the said part, its not pushing the catch
to release the lock, does anyone know (apart from an Alfa garage) where the
best place to...

147 Cam Variator advice please. by
genie9823
I’ve just got my nearly four year old 147 back from an expensive
36,000 mile service and MOT where I had to have quite a lot of
suspension parts replaced. At the same time they recomended that I
have the cam variator replaced. Due to not having stacks of spare cash
knocking around I haven’t had it...
