resetting ECU Fiat by
NoNomen
I found this piece of advice concerning the resetting of the ECU of a Bravo
(by disconnecting the battery for a while):
"Once it has being reset the car will feel completley different i.e the
steering will be very light and it will have alot more acceleration. It
takes the ECU Between 200 - 400...

Misfires in 98 Subaru Outback w/ 2.5 by
[email protected]
I have a 98 Subaru Outback w/ automatic tranny. It has 107K miles.
The check engine light came on about 1000 miles ago with Cyl. 2 and
Cyl. 4 Misfire trouble codes. The engine also started idling very
rough. I changed the platinum plugs about 4000 miles ago, so I think
they're probably good. ...

Coolant in the oil by
[email protected]
My 1991 Plymouth Sundance RS 2.5 TBI w/ 198,000 miles on it had a blown
head gasket since this past summer. After it was comfirmed that it was
blown, I continued to drive the car. At first, the only symptoms I had
was bubbles/foaming in the radiator and overflow bottle. The car was
also running hot...

After a long drive through slush, salt and sand, power window got very
slow and jerky. Tried to clean the outside gasket - not much help. It

the power unit.

Good cheap reliable econo car reccs? by
ant
Sometime in the next few months I'll be buying myself a 'new' used car.
I could spend up to $4000 if it wasn't going to need a lot of cash
upgrading and fixing bits and pieces.
Being an auto-newbie, i wonder if the group has some collective advice
on models/years that have good...

1989 Chevrolet Celebrity Fuel Injectors by
Larry R Harrison Jr
Someone is selling a 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity for $1000. They have stated
that it will need new fuel injectors, that they froze together or something
(don't remember).
How much does such a repair typically cost? Is it a worthwhile thing for a
car this age (it does seem in good shape otherwise & is...

Mass Airflow, need Help! by
JC
I can rev the engine from the engine compartment
and there is almost a sec delay before the engine revs. Also there are
times during acceleration the engine runs smooth and then sometimes it
sputters. I am receiving trouble codes P-100(MAF sensor error circuit)
P-110(IAT sensor error circuit) and...

Panic Alarm--Random Events by
jj
I have a 97 Sable and the panic alarm sounds off randomly whenever the
car is locked. Is there an easy way to disable the alarm? I tried
looking at the fuses but there is no separate fuse for the alarm. The
dealer wants a minimum of $300 to check it out.
Thanks--JJ

Redline MT-90 transmission lubricant by

Anyone have experience of knowledge of this stuff? I have a 1985
Corolla, 5 speed manual, that is tough to shift when ambient
temperatures get low and occasionally grinds when shifting into first
and third.

Junkyard parts: Online vs Phone them? by
Jonathan Grobe
Which are the best online used-parts locator websites?
Any thoughts on using them vs systematically phoning
junkyards (starting local and spreading out from there)?

2005 Escape Limited Strong Fuel Odor When Starting by

Hi All: I recently complained about poor fuel economy with my wife's

this car out for poor fuel economy. I also noticed that when I start
this car up, I get a very strong odor of gasoline. Is that normal?

"High Output" headlights by
Masospaghetti
How much better are these "high output" halogens compared to the regular
ones? I'm not talking out the "HID XENON PLASMA 55w=90w" bulbs.
Also, has anyone heard of "Nighthawk" or "HIR" halogens?
Thanks!

1988 Ford Tempo Dies after starting by

My Tempo has always started well but recently after it starts and runs
for a few seconds, the engine dies if I don't have my foot slightly on
the accelerator.
If it does die though, I have a hard time getting it started again.
The interesting part is if I disconnect the fuel filter, the...
