ABS, is it necessary? by dukecola
Hello, All! I just finished paying $700 for a repair to a ABS on a 96 Cabrio. I couldn't afford new $1200 regulator, so went for the cheaper used part. Well it failed 3 weeks later and the ABS light is on. So, question is, the car brakes just fine, do I really need to worry about not having...

98 Jetta Gl: Oil Change. by Terrence
As the 3rd owner of this 98 Jetta GL, I've now feel as if I have been thru a hazing of sorts for having changed the oil myself. The previous owner, appears not to have changed the oil in 20,000 miles. Its a wonder that nasty things did not happen to Jetta during this time. Anyway, I was...

98 Jetta VR6, water pump? by [email protected]
I just bought my second VW (first was a Golf of the same year), and upon completing the nearly two hour drive home, I shut the car off, and still heard a noise. So I poped the hood, and listened intently. It sound like a mechanical humming accompanied by a hissing and gurgling. I hypothesised that...

Coolant smell by DruG[_1_]
One more thing I thought of there seems to be a coolant smell when I run the hot air. Does this mean a bunk heater core? The car (92 Cabriolet Karmann) also seems to run a bit hot. I don't have a bentley for it yet but should be getting one in a week or so. If you know of any checks I can do...

So the GF wants a Cab. I've got 3 golfs along with various parts. So My question is which parts are going to be able to transfer over. The golf's are all mk2 and of course the cab will be a mk1. The most important part for me I suppose is the brand new suspension I put in less than two...

Throttle body - 99 V6 Passat by BK[_3_]
My Passat (99 V6) was in to the dealer for an intermittent cruise control. They ended up replacing the cruise control switch but then apparently needed to "perform throttle body adaptation". This operation failed, despite there being no previous trouble codes related to this component. So they...

So we just bought a 92 Cab 5sp Karmann edition. There are a couple weird things going on with the cluster. First Question is how do I get it out of the dash? I had all the trim and switches off and had the two screw holding it at the top out but I couldn't get the speedo cable out or the wire...

Hello I have an 84 Scirocco. The problem is the LED on the water temp gauge. It flashes continuously. It worked normally when I first had the car. Over the years it stayed on longer and longer until now - it won't stop. I have also had at one point the fuel and water gauge both not working but...
