Do New Brake Pads Require a New Rotor by eBob.com
I new new pads for a front brake. Is it necessary, or at least a real good idea, to replace the rotor too? The car has 80K miles on it. I'd like to save some $$s but having a safe car is a higher priority. Thanks, Bob

audi a6 2.7t smoking by Jims Audi[_2_]
My 2000 audi a6 2.7t just started smoking (real bad) out of both exhaust pipes. It also sounds like the waste gate is partially open (like a small exhaust leak). The oil is 3 weeks old (synthetic 5w 40) as is the filter. I am not getting any engine codes and the car seems to run OK. Not that I took...

what to do with switchblade key from stolen Audi by KLS
My 98.5 Audi that was stolen Dec. 8 still hasn't been recovered, and prospects look dim. I've got an extra switchblade key for this car; is there any market value to it? It's not a blank.

Changing the air filter on a 1990 Audi 80 Quattro? by [email protected]
Ok, I checked the bentley manual, And it states to take the car to the dealer to change the air filter. WTF the reason for the manual was to learn how to do it yourself. Any help would be great thanks.

1990 V8 Fuel Injection issue by Bill Mote
The fuel economy on my car has gone approximately in half. Went from around 22 mpg at 70 mph to around 10 to 11. I replaced the temp sensor, checked the mass air flow sensor, checked the idle speed motor? and have cleaned the throttle body. Also replaced the air filter all to no avail. No...

Starting Woes by Steve Daniels
I just bought a 2004 TT, 3.2 DSG S-Line. Sounds good, right? This morning it wouldn't start because the battery didn't have enough power in it. I jumped it, and measured the voltage across the terminals. Fourteen volts, just like it's supposed to be. Turned it off, and it wouldn't start again....

Hi, I have the code and the instructions on how to unlock my radio in 1995 A6. The code does not work. My code starts with "0", yet I cannot make the first digit a "0", only "1" or blank. Could this be the problem? Andre

audi a4 2.8 lifter noise by mike_n
i have a 97 a4 that recently started to make a loud lifter noise. it is a bit louder than the 'classic' audi lifter noise and i suspect that 1 or 2 lifters are stuck. i tried to use a quart of transmission fluid in the oil to loosen it up. and i have now gone back to 20-50 oil to see if if gets...

I have only one usable key, so I bout a blank key with remote fob on ebay and plan to get the metal cut from a locksmith for $60. He says I might need to also have the transponder portion of the key programmed for it to start the car (not the remote portion which opens the doors, I know how to...

A4 Headlights by
your bilbs probably blow due to the fact you touch the glass when fitting, natural oils in your skin cause hot spots on bulbs meaning the gas inside burns alot quicker than it should

oil used in 2003 A4 by Bob Navarro
At a recent oil change the Audi service mgr told me that the oil used in my 2003 A4 is synthetic or a synthetic blend, which allows it to go 10,000 miles between changes. They asked if I was going to change it every 5k or 10k miles, and apparently would use different oil depending on my answer. The...

Audi A6 (2000) 17" wheels - uneven tire wear by Anit Patel
I have year 2000 model A6 4.2 what is wearing tires uneven. This car uses 17" tires. Has any one experienced this? The dealer says all four wheels need to be replaced. I find it difficult to digest that all four wheels can go bad. The car has only 50k miles. My new set of tires have only 6k miles...

A4 speedo accuracy by BOB
Anyone done any tests of how accurate the A4 speedo is (UK 2003 in this case)? I normally cruise around at ~80mph in 70 limits and have never been troubled before but I've now had some (ahem) unwanted attention and wonder if my earlier cars read 5~10% high and my Audi doesn't. I've read that the...

Audis Not Reliable after 100,000 kilometers?? by Dan Eilerman
Saw a post in another thread that said Audi's are less reliable after 100,000 kilometers/62,000 miles. Have a '99 A4 1.8T at 54k miles, with an expensive service coming up at 60k miles. In the last year, I've replaced both headlights, fixed the pneumatic locks (failed hose) and just had to...

Radio use with engine off by howitzer
Hello All I have an '03 A4Q 3.0 Sport, 6spd. Is it OK to have the ignition on without the engine running? I think I can hear the fuel pump running in this position. If this will eventually damage something like the coils, how can I listen to the radio with the engine off without an ACC...
