oil consumpstion question by Steve D.
Hello. I'm new to this Newsgroup and wondered if anyone could advise me whether it is unusual for a 2000 2.0 VW Bug to use more than 1 qt. of oil between oil changes? Manual transmission - heavy rush-hour daily commute. Thanks in advance. -Steve. D.-

Switching/Mixing Motor Oils? by Tavish Muldoon
Hello, I ususally get synthetic oil. Sometimes however, while travelling, I need to top up, and put in a regular oil. In the past, the mechanic would give me an oil change for free - but it would be regular oil (no synthetic). Other times if synthetic was handy it would go in. Is there a...

My check engine light came on and I determined that the fault codes were P1557 and P1136. What should I look for in regards to these problems. Anything I might be able to fix myself?

Reducing NOx emissions- '92 Golf by Garry Tarr
I have a '92 Golf (1.8L gas engine, Digifant II control, no EGR) with less than 60,000 miles. The car has passed many emissions tests over the years. The car runs well, with lots of power and good fuel economy. It does not ping under any normal load. On the last ASM2525 test I got the following...

Serious Bentley Manual Problems by Kent
A while back, someone started a thread asking which was the preferred Bentley Manual, electronic or print version. The consensus seemed to be that the electronic version was not worth the premium price. Well, I should have taken the group's advice. I received my CD for the Bentley GTI, Golf, Jetta...

Ok, I did it by Mikhael47
Based on all your comments in the newsgroup, I took the plunge and ordered a 2004 Golf GLS TDI. If I clear the financing hurdle (should know by friday), I'll take possession on monday. I am trading in a very high KM 2000 neon, and getting raped. I guess a 4cyl neon with 230 000km doesn't fetch a...

What is "premium diesel"? by [email protected]
A station near where I live in central Indiana has two kinds of diesel fuel, one they call "premium." As we all know, extra high compression and force-fed gas engines need higher octane "premium" fuel to avoid engine knock, but "premium diesel"? What gives? TIA for any profound information on...
