1996 SL2 and Brown Sediment in Coolant by
Father Mike[_2_]
I have about 145,000 km on this boat. I took it in for routine work and
Canadian Tire pulled me aside and said I had a leaking head gasket and to
prove it they showed me flakes of brown sediment which allegedly came from
my cooling system. The cost to repair would be around $1800.
Naturally, I...

Lost Key - 1992 Saturn SL2 by
Joe AutoDrill
Update...
Apparently, the key does not have a chip. It's a simple metal key.
No plastic key or spare key in the glove box, etc.
So... It boils down to whether there is a way to ID the key code from the
VIN or something else...
Any ideas?

Power windows- work for 2 years- THAT'S ALL FOLKS! by
misterfact
Power window units in the door work great. Unfortunately the
electrical contacts in the console switches wear out or burn out in
2-3 years. Of course-taking the console cover off and cleaning or
replacing the contacts requires the help of your friendly, high
overhead ($$$$$), Saturn dealer.
I...

Wheel bearing or something else? by
somebody[_2_]
I have that whining/grumbling noise on a 2005 Ion-2 with 5-speed.
Something like the sound of coarse snow tires, but the summer tires
are on.
Bit it doesn't change when turning, like an earlier bad bearing on our
SL-2. What could this be? If it is a bad bearing, then which one? I
tried...

Starter Troubleshooting by
jls
Recently the starter won't turn on occasion, but after a few clicks of the
key the starter works. But it's getting worse, especially when the engine
is warm, and left me standing at the gas station yesterday, where 3 nice
guys gave me a push. Fortunately the '96 SL2 is a five-speed. Battery...

Steering Wheel Vibration by
stellarroadie
'97 Saturn SL1, 110k miles
So this has recently started, and it is scaring me while driving. Not all
the time, but sometimes the wheel will start to vibrate violently for a
period of time. It is not strong enough to alter the direction that I am
driving, but enough to be very noticeable. It...

$100 Gas Voucher by
alalhp6d[_4_]
I just discovered this new site that's giving away a $100 gas voucher,
for free!
Can you believe the price of gas these days?
In my area it's currently over $4.75 per gallon, and all signs point
to it going even higher, very soon. I remember the days when gas used
to cost $0.99 per gallon, but...

Saturn Astra Debuts This Week in Chicago by
[email protected]
I suppose this is old news to most here, but the arrival of the Astra
may mean the first new car for me in 11 years.

Hopefully, it will be as good as the European models. I understand the
first to arrive will not be made in the US...

Engine Light coming on by
Carl Borbons
I have a 2000 Saturn LW2. The "service engine soon" light came on so I
hooked up an OBD II I rented from a local auto parts store. It said "Fuel
too lean banks 1 and 2" and the same message for banks 3 and 4 ( 2 codes ).
So I ran some fuel injector cleaner through. At the time the car ran...

'01 lw300 thermostat change - 8 hours! by
Oppie[_7_]
Changed the thermostat on the '01 LW300 today. Getting ready for state
inspection and the engine has been running too cold, which throws a code.
Gone are the days when this was a 10 minute job. Couldn't believe it when
the service manual said to remove the entire intake manifold right down to...

My Saturn's Radio has A.D.D. by
Bart Collins
Help,
The factory radio in my wife's 08 Saturn Sky has developed A D D. It
will wander off the station preset frequency. Example - I listen to 98.7
FM and for no rhyme or reason, the radio will drift to 98.5 or 98.9 with
the loss of signal. Pressing the preset brings it back for a little
while but...

Got rear-ended today by
Oppie[_7_]
Could have been a lot worse. Stopped at a stop sign, checked traffic and
just as I inch forward, hear a screech and look in the mirror just in time
to brace for a dump truck that rear ended me. Thankfully he wasn't going
fast and hit me maybe going 10 mph. Pushed in the lift gate of the LW300 a...

I was almost clipped by this person who was trying to catch up with another

I just got my 2000 SL1 professionally detailed including under the hood.
The engine looks showroom...
