how to use this battery charger- BRADEX by [email protected]
The charger will show a very low rate on the meter. When it stop dropping for a couple of hours that is when you know the battery is fully charged. I have a 20 year old Bradex 4amp charger which I use on the low setting. It still charges the big battery on a 2,2 crd Pt Cruiser very well but...

Motor is wheezing, as if it's breathing - why? by Arlen Holder[_4_]
It's a Honda lawnmower I'm asking about, which is about 10 years old, but which runs fine most of the time. I replaced the plug, ran a tank of fresh gas, and cleaned the filter, and yet, it "wheezes" like it's breathing, normal rpm, and then slower rpm and then normal rpm and then slower rpm and...

What exactly does cold pressure mean? by Tom Adams
I help maintain a Ford E350 used for a vanpool. The door panel spec says that the rear tires require 80 psi. The sidewall specs on the rear tires say that the maximum pressure is 80 psi. So, what does cold pressure mean exactly? If I check the tires on a cold morning (say 35 degrees) I will end...

69 Manx sputtering by [email protected]
I have a 69 Manx with a fresh 1915cc that I built last year. So when the engine was built I used an empi progressive carb and I can’t install the heat risers because my exhaust doesn’t have the port for them. I believe that my sputter may be caused by condensation building up. How can I get...

Strangest Tire Question EVERRR... by [email protected]
Strangest Tire Question EVERRR... Has anyone ever calculated or estimated the area, in square inches/square cm, of the *surface of the inside* of a tire? Does at least an average exist out there, for broad categories: passenger car, SUV-light truck, and commercial truck? Just curious, Thanks!

What size nut goes onto a typical US passenger tire Schrader valve? by Leon Schneider
What size nut goes onto a typical US passenger tire Schrader valve? To insert the tire valve, I know there is a ridiculously cheap cross-type valve tool where you thread it on the outside of the tire valve to pull the tire valve through the hole in the wheel rim, but for emergency use I just...

Kia cylinder numbering system by [email protected]
KIA 2008 Rondo 2.7 Liter V-6. Still trying to solve my P0302 (misfire cylinder 2) problem. Replaced the three easy spark plugs, erased the codes, car ran fine for about 5 minutes and then the code reappeared. BTW, I also switched the three coils hoping the problem would prove a bad...

Need help buying tires , 55 to 50 by micky
I usually just buy whatever the used tire store has, but I think he had trouble finding the size I need last time, so I looked online. This is for a 2005 Toyotal Solara SLE convertible. The current tire is 215/55R17, as recommended by the maker. Questions come to mind: 1) I once had 2...

###TIMING BELT CONSPIRACY THEORY### by [email protected]
Just my rotten luck: Back in summer of 2003, had a local independent change out my 1996 Ford Contour(Mondeo) belt, low 60,000s. He had the car for three days, because he did all the work himself. Second day, got a phone call from this guy: "Hey look, sorry this timing belt is taking longer than...

Hard or soft braking by The Real Bev[_5_]
I recently read (don't ask me where, it was a couple of months ago) that brakes last longer with harder+shorter pressure than with softer+longer pressure. Opinions? -- Cheers, Bev "I don't trust carry-out food. When you find hair in my cooking you don't hafta worry about where it came...

What's the tale of ceramic brakes? by [email protected]
I'm not familiar with ceramic brakes, but they come with a lifetime warranty. Are they really that good? Do they threaten any other brake system components? Do they really last forever? Any informed comments appreciated.

###TIMING BELT CONSPIRACY THEORY### by [email protected]
Ive been in the car trade for 25 years and never ever handled a timing belt related issue. Mechanics always say its the problem and it isn't. They charge you $1000 for a $25 belt. Cant trust any mechanic.

'Salvage' titles by The Real Bev[_5_]
Is there any reason to ever buy a salvaged car for anything but a throwaway price? I'm talking about "normal" people here, not the Roadkill Garage guys... Two friends, two disasters. One friend had invested a lot in racing parts before the Mustang broke in half. The other was given the car...

What actually happened with the parking brake? by delvon daily
A few weeks ago I accidentally left the parking brake on for a 25 mile drive, highway in the middle with about five miles on each end that were side roads. On the last five to seven miles, the brakes went to the floor when I first pressed them, and that's the first time I knew there was a...
