76 Bay steering box seal by Bluedc[_2_]
Hi, my steering box is leaking. I have read that you can replace the seals but I can't find anywhere to buy one - does anyone know where I can get one. I am in the UK but will buy from anywhere. It would also be good to hear from anyone who has replaced their own seal.

Almost related: a portable radio by Tuomas
This is the way hobbies get out of hand: ;) I was delighted to find a gray Blaupunkt Lido (made in 62/63) for the grey bus as it has radio cover plate recycled for windshield washer button and I didn't want to change that. So a portable radio and this one fits to style...

Carby bearings by John[_28_]
I,ve noticed that now I have to fairly regularly work a bit of oil into the choke pivots or the chokes seize up on my T3. About every 6 months, not a big deal. Just get some light oil on pivot near where it enters body of carby and wriggle things for a few minutes. Never happened when I used...

distributor problem again by Steven Rogers
Once again my distributor problem is back. I seem to accelerate ok but steady speed driving and the engine coughs and sputters. Disconnecting the vacuum line to the distributor and the engine runs much better (although not perfect... slight loss is power and acceleration). Does anyone have a...

Distributor problem by S R
Good morning folks. Thursday my poor abused 74 bug had a rough time making it home from work. Idle was fine, accelerating seemed ok however steady speed driving (any gear, any speed) and she would sputter and cough constantly. Friday morning I checked my gap and timing, they were ok. Took the carb...

Before There Were Web Based Forums by fred67bug[_2_]
It's interesting to be back and see some of the same names from the late 1990s when I first became aware of RAMVA. I got my 67 Beetle in 1998 and those were interesting times in the VW hobby.I now own 3 -67 beetles and a 64 Beetle with the crank open sunroof. My Father passed away 2 years ago and I...

Hello to everyone on the group by fred67bug[_2_]
Hi, I Haven't posted on ramva for a long time-(at least 5 years).I have some catching up to do. When did Bob Hoover die? I had someone ask me how to get a cd of Bob Hoover's sermons and I googled his name. I hit a dead end locating the cd and also learned he is gone. Last time I posted he was...

da poor man's porsche ? by Lamumba
it's amazing how many people don't even know what a Karmann Ghia is. I tell them , Oh, it's a VW. Yesterday someone asked if the engine was also in the rear. I said I hope so. Well, the engine rarely falls out. I have heard of engines getting stolen when left on the side of the road. Run out of...

Fuel Pump Woe’s by Jim Ed
The pin that holds the lever came out of a like new Brosol fuel pump. It had only about 3 years/ 3000 miles on it. I noticed on one of my older used Brocar pumps has ‘e - clips’ holding that lever pin shaft in place while another old Brosol fuel pump did not have the e-clips. Instead, one end of...

Steering Column Headache by [email protected][_2_]
Having a real head scratcher with my indicater arm on my '69 1200 beetle. The indicator arm switches are not making a connection and I need to remove it from the steering column. The books I'm using mention a plug and socket type connection within the steering column but I'm not sure I have this...

Fuel pump location on a '78 cabriolet? by RHF[_2_]
For over 32 years my '78 fuel injected cabriolet has never failed to start until it sat in storage this winter. Normally I start it at least once a month and let it run a bit just to circulate the oil. The spark seems healthy so I suspect the fuel pump. After sitting for week or so all I hear...

think like a motorcyclist by Vet of a Foreign war
Riding a bike for years transfers very nicely over to driving a really old VW. I assume that nobody sees me. About 3 times I spotted a zombie heading for me. The last time I promptly went out and bought air horns. Hid them in the little air vents .'6o ghia. It's nice they don't come on at...
