Trackdays by
SteveH
OK, I'm doing my first proper trackday in a couple of weeks.
(Mon. 21st May at Colerne)
I've read up on them, and appear to be more or less prepared for what
I'm getting into, but I'd appreciate tips from someone with a bit of
experience.
The thing that really puzzles me is what people do with...

Howdy, My shop has bent my throwout bearing? by
Steve Nicholson
Thanks for opening this note. Does this make sense? When installing a new
clutch slave cyl. they set it to expand to 19mm the book says 11 to 12mm.
I think my slave cyl expanded too much and bent my pressure plate and bent
my throwout bearing fork out of position resulting in a now non...

156 Gearbox Snag - Help? by
Graeme Cosgrove
Just got home from a 45 minute run up from Manchester. Car has been
running hot for a couple of days, but there is a slight coolant leak
which I was going to get checked out when I too it in for an oil change
in a couple of days.
Turned off the motorway and lost first and third gears!!! Could...

Goodbye 156 SW 2.4JTDm Veloce by
Ninja
Well, it's been a great three years, but unfortunately it's time for the
Alfa to go. The expanding family means I have had to go for something
bigger (Passat Estate 2.0Tdi 170 dsg - which is huge, and drives really well
by the way).
The Alfa has been great: sylish, practical, reliable (yes,...

Alfa 156 Electric Window Switches by
Lin Fong
This is my first post to this group, though I've been reading posts
here for some time - in fact, it was advice here a few weeks ago that
prompted me to change the timing belt earlier than recommended in the
manual.
Anyway, i'm slightly embarrased as I have a rather trivial question,
but here...

fitting additional amp and componemt speakers by
[email protected]
Hi All
Just purchased my dedicated two channel amp and component speakers.
I have never fitted before - any one got a guide and piccies? I do
know what cables I need but assistance on routing cables from battery
to boot and head unit to boot and doors would be great.
Worth noting I got a 6 month...

Leaky Radiator on Alfa 156 JTD by
tbrick18
I have a problem with my 156.
I got a leak which I though was the radiator. I could see the water
leaking through the grill at the front of the car. I bought a new
radiator and when I began to disassemble the slam panel I realised
that there are 2 radiators in the front of the car. The new...

Might be worth a punt - whip the lump out, stick it in yours and break
the rest on ebay before weighing in the shell.
Result: one fixed car and a wad of cash.

156 sump plug leak by
[email protected]
Hi folks
I've noticed patches of oil have appeared under my 156 and I'm told
the sump plug is leaking. I've been quoted £135 (inc vat) so far... is
this reasonable? (I'm assuming that the thread has gone in the hole in
the sump.)
My usual Alfa specialist doesn't have the tool for this... anyone...

Decision time by
R D S
Right then.
I have been told I will get approx £600 for my Alfa as is.*
However, a mechanic who seems to have a good rep and seems (yes I know,
seems, but I am not mystic meg) to know his stuff with many years of
specialising in Alfa's can get me an engine and fit it for about a grand.
The...

75 Twin-Spark system by

Can someone point me to a resource which will explain exactly how this
works, please?
Would I be right in assuming that the engine isn't meant to run on just
the distributor mounted on the end of the cam?
I'm sure I've got the leads on properly, 'cos I can swap the caps over
and get the engine...
