6V to 12 conversion q. by Jorge[_2_]
a neighbor with a '60 bug asked me how difficult it is to go 12 volt. I thought the starter was the worst of it. tho you can spin a 6v starter with 12volt. isn't it easier to rebush the tranny and find a bendix that fits the ring gear? where can one get this? TIA g -- Karma ; what a concept!

My odometer has lost its mind! by ChrisKlinger
Filled up just after getting out of work, odometer shows 00621. Got home - straight home - ODO shows 00636. It's a 5 mile ride... No wonder I occasionally seem to get extraordinary MPG. Bet I've been changing my oil too often, too. Chris

75 FI problems, running rich by Jan Andersson[_4_]
I'll post this here, a customer of mine has a rich condition apparently with his 75 FI bug. I've never worked on the FI version, so I could use some troubleshooting help.... any ideas welcome. I've tinkered with Porsche FI from the same era and I assume the fundamentals are very similar hi...

swing axle nuts - Guru advice appreciated. by ChrisKlinger
Here's a new one for me; if anyone can tell me WTF, I'd be most appreciative. Did the brakes on the Ghia. Replaced rear grease seals, Torqued rear axle nuts to >215 ft. lbs. Checked and tightened link pins; some slop, planned rebush for soon. All's great. Had a little rumble in right rear,...

Beutler Sports Car by Bill Berckman
I was reading a car related book called the Encylopedia of Sports Cars. Was reading about a car called the Beutler. They were a Swiss coachbuilder. They did some work for Porsche and used some VWs and related parts in creating their vehicles. The book said that they also built a 4 door VW Beetle....

New to me,,, A "Wild Westerner" bus... by vwluvrs[_2_]
Seems to be a bit of controversy surrounding this colour scheme.. I think the Designers at VWOA were on drugs in 1973 when they came up with this scheme. It is rumored to have been a 1973 only colour scheme, and sold only on the west coast of the US.. Any one have any knowledge of them (other than...

Not many VW,s in Turkey by John[_28_]
Just spent 11 days touring Turkey and only saw one VW. A Beetle about 65 vintage, probably a 1300 from script on boot.( script was in Turkish!). Pottering along gamely in middle of 3 lane highway. Looked in excellent condition. 100,s of Renault 12s though in the rural areas but none in cities. ...

Cal Look by Bill Berckman
I just noticed that http://www.cal-look.com/ has decided to close up shop after 13years. That site and RAMVA had been my 2 favorite VW sites. Will miss reading about the VW racing stuff there.

Hmm. I feel like I started quite the storm many years ago and can't seem to remember why. I just want to offer my apologies to those who Were offended.. I'm sure I said a lot of stupid things, and I don't want to find what I said, but I promise I am grown up now and not on life support or being...

If you like the aluminum look, replace the button on the T-1 parking brake lever with the nut that holds the wiper arm on the type 2 ('68 on) I polish them a little. -- Karma ; what a concept!

Here's a neat feature. by the man
I put a small VW emblem horizontally on top of the third brake lite and I can see it's reflection in the rear window in my rear view mirror. Well, I think it's neat. I have a lot of time on my hands. -- Karma ; what a concept!
