Is Ford's new EcoBoost engine a Mazda in disguise? by
Auto_Writer
Ford Motor Co. that it will offer a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine for
some of its vehicles starting next year, an effort to provide greater
fuel economy to consumers without compromising on horsepower. But is
it a Ford engine or really a Mazda MZR with a Ford nameplate?

Rear window material by
Baby Grand
I want to replace the soft rear window in my 97 M. I have a shop and tools
to do it myself, but what is it? Clear Polycarbonate? Thickness is .040
inches (1 mm). Anyone have a reasonable price source for this material?
TIA

missing by
Baby Grand
I bought my 97 M model at 36K miles, and have driven it for 4 years. Now
has 88K. On a recent highway trip it started missing when ever I
accelerated, but would smooth out when I let back off the gas. This has
been a gradual onset, but seems to be getting worse. If I start off very
easy with...

missing PS by
Baby Grand
Oh, one other clue. The check engine light came on during the above
mentioned trip. When I got down on the gas, and the missing really kicked
in, the check engine light would flash, but when I backed off and it
smoothed out, it would stay on steady. Won't go out, however. Thanks.

Shocks by
BAK
Everything I find on shocks and suspension is for performance and handling.
Any body have any suggestions for shocks for improving ride for cruising?
I just bought a '95 two weeks ago and it seems like every bump I hit bigger
than a pebble goes straight up my.....seat. Is it normal for this car...

Broken water pump pulley bolt by
BAK
Just finished changing the water pump and timing belt in my "95 and broke a
bolt in the water pump pulley. Everything was already reassembled, but I
just HAD to reach in with a socket and check to see if I had tightened them.
I know it cannot stay that way and plan on taking it apart and fixing...

Question on brake wear by
BAK
I just changed all brake pads and had all rotors turned. Went for a test
drive and the left front rotor is coloring (slight bluish tint) and showed
signs of rubbing, where as the other three show nothing. Is this something
to be concerned about, or should I let them wear in, then re-check?

New owner, old Miata by
BAK
Hello group,
After many years of looking, I finally broke down and bought a 1995 Miata.
Needs loads of attention, but I wanted something to "tinker" with, so it was
perfect. I will be picking your brains and possibly pestering ya'll in the
near future for advice and help. Hope thats O.K.

Ride height varies by
BAK
The ride height on my '95 varies slightly in the front left-right, in the
rear its 3/8" higher on the right. This is with new KYB AGX shocks, FM
springs, FM rear shock mounts, and all new bump stops. Is this acceptable?
Is there a way to adjust this?

Heater hose.... by
BAK
Was on my way to a job site today in my "new" '95. About two miles from my
destination I noticed the AC suddenly go warm. Checked the gauges and
noticed the temp climbing. Drove about a 1/2 mile on HOT. (There was NO
place to stop for help......deserted area next to refinery) Quick look under

Timing Belt Idler Pulley question by
[email protected]
The saga of replacing my water pump continues. Finally swapped out the
water pump, and now am putting everything back together. For those of
you who have not ever considered replacing your water pump - it is a
rather time consuming endeavor on the Miata - remove the cam shaft
cover, accessory...

Water pump replacement by
[email protected]
I am having a tough time replacing my leaking water pump. Per the
directions, the timing belt has to be removed, which can be removed
until the crank shaft pulley has been removed. After 2 days of trying
- I can't get the crank shaft pulley off.
Has anyone ever replaced the water pump without...
