Leaking transaxle fluid by
Scott
On today's outing to the dunes, I had transmission fluid dripping.
Fearing the worst and lacking my socket to pull the plug and check
fluid levels, I came back early rather than risk damage. Upon looking
at some other transaxles around the garage, I think the fluid is
coming from a small hole at...

009 distributor wear. by
VFW
I swear this is the second time I've had a 009 go out on me. Seems the
bushings wear out. I guess they just got old, me too.
The Q. is , what lubes the shaft and I do oil the felt in the middle.
Did I hear that the distributor cap has #3 offset to run cooler?

Money! What a concept.

Air cooling question. by
DogDiesel
Hello, How about some hypothetical thinking . It seems to me that the VW
would cool a lot better , or easier, if the cold air entered the bottom .
Using scoops. and gravity. On redesigned cylinder tins. Went up through
the fins. Through the fan or not. And out the vents or through the...

Whets running through the tunnel. As far as brake lines , cables ect. Is

Thinking about getting a beetle. by
DogDiesel
Hello, I've been a water-cooled VW person for many years. Saying that I'm
well aware that VWs are maintenance heavy. And excluding air-cooled VWs. I
think all VWs suck that aren't diesels. VW dropped the ball after 92. But
.. I've got two decent vehicles now and my last VW Golf diesel is...

Flying to buy a bug. by
DogDiesel
Anyone ever fly somewhere where bugs don't rot to get one and drive it
home?? To get a clean one for a cheap. You think changing the oil, new
points, alternator belt , grease the front end is about all you need to do
to get it home.
Anyone carry a gallon of water in an antifreeze bottle in...
