What I don't like about my "new" MSM. by
Frank Berger
1. Harsh ride. I attribute this to the 17" wheels, which I do think are
good looking. Not bizarrely large like some say. If I decide to keep the
car, for sure I will get smaller wheels. Not sure if I have to go down to
15" do make a difference, or what the wheel/tire choices are in 16,"...

Turns Over but Won't Start by
Christopher Muto
Hi all,
Drove my *automatic* '95 for an hour to a store, parked it, went shopping
for an hour, came out, and the Miata would not start.
It happily cranks but does not start. Noticed that the 'hold' light on the
dash blinks continuously (this is an automatic) and believe that it is
trying to...

Pre-ignition or pinking? 2007 MX5 coupe. by
The Invisible Man
Hi
Our 2007 MX-5 Coupé 2.0 (not sport) makes some knocking? noise when
accelerating gently at fairly low revs. Not a lot of torque starting off
on steep hills in Cornwall the last few days.
Garage can find nothing wrong. Never had any similar problems with our
2005 1.8 but exhaust is quite...

Can someone run a Carfax report for me? by
Iva
I'm looking at a 2002 with only 29,000 miles on it, in pretty good
condition and at a not-too unreasonable price. VIN is
JM1NB353520234402 if someone can run it for me.
And it's red too. ;-)

Miata air scoop by
altar nospam
I just installed the scoop that directs air down to the feet when it's
hot. That's bothered me ever since we bought the Miata. 95 degrees
outside and my feet are cooking down there. It apparantly works like
it says it's supposed to. I'm tickled with it. I have no affiliation
whatsoever with the...

Ford 'badged' vehicle built on Miata frame? by
Karl North
Hi everyone,
I was driving "Maggie Mae" (My 'new' '01 Miata) this evening and my best
girl posed a very thought provoking question. She asked 'with all the
crossover (Rebranded / rebadged) cars that Ford & Mazda make
(Explorer-Navajo, MX6-Probe, 323-Laser, Escape-Tribute, etc etc) why...

Ethanol in my gas tank? by
Carol
I just bought half a tank of gas at a new "Valero" station... when I looked
at the tank and read the sign that said 'Contains Ethanol' I stopped pumping
and crossed my fingers. I have a 2005 and don't know if Miatas like ethanol
or not.
Any knowledge out there on this?
Do I need to worry? Should...

Miata vs Z3? by
Dana Rohleder
Hi,
I am considering purchasing a new roadster and would like some opinions.
Obviously there are not a lot of affordable roadsters out there. I have
narrowed my choices down to 3 - a new Miata, a used Z3, or possibly a new
Sky/Solstice. I have not been able to drive any of these because I live...

Q: 60K Service by
solamour
Hello, everyone.
The owner's manual says that I need to replace the timing belt and get
other major services done at 60K miles. What happens if I postpone it
a little, say, 61K miles? Would my car break down in the middle of the
road? I live in California, if that matters at all.

what kind of car was this? (NMC) by
pws
Does anyone know what this car is/was? It seems pretty sturdy.

I also noticed that it was white, where there is still sheet metal left.
I was wondering if Leon could do an equation of the benefits of the
photon effect versus the fact that the roof...

Adjust odometer/spedometer? by
Grant Edwards
Is there any way to adjust the odometer or spedometer in an NB
Miata?
In my 2003 the odometer reads about 2.8% high, and the
speedometer reads about 7% high (with the OEM tires/wheels).
I think I'll put on slightly oversized snow tires this year.
That'll get me a little more ground clearance...

Dumb spark plug question: Metric or not? by
[email protected]
Have a 2000 Mazda Protege ES.... built in Japan.
I'm going to attempt to change the spark plugs myself
but have no idea if the actual plugs themselves in this
vehicle require a metric wrench!
If one buys say Autolite or whatever plugs.... is the
hex head on them metric as well and therefore...

Ignition or fuel? by
Leon van Dommelen
I have a problem with the engine heavily backfiring in the exhaust
at 5000+ rpm if I put my foot into it, particularly during merging
operations on the Interstate. Maybe my foot is blocking the air
flow and I should take it out of the exhaust?
Anyway, a look below the hood showed a yellow sort of...
