Looking for a Miata-SoutWest US by Cat in the Hat
Last Thursday I totaled my wife's red 93. But it did save my life. Airbag deployed, seat belts were snug, only minor injuries, considering what the alternatives were. Anyhow, We are looking for another Miata and if anyone has one for sale or knows where one is for sale in the SW , please let me...

Lime Creek - cold but fast this weekend! by Carol[_1_]
I was up in Austin again this weekend. It was too cold on Saturday to drop the top but that didn't keep me, the dog, and my Miata off Lime Creek. Great drive! Only encountered two other cars on the way out and only one other (and it was a Miata, too!) on the way back. While I never made it up on...

Spare Tire Relocation by Aardvark J. Bandersnatch, MYOFB
Greetings and Felicitations! Due to the death of my wife's beater, we are now happy owners of an '03 Shinsen (#711). We got it at wholesale price (local to central Indiana). I've been doing a little research and reading about the various things that can be done (and some that should be done) to...

Almost dead in my 2000.. by zenmartini
Last Friday I got onto the Garden State Parkway (in Northern NJ) to begin my drive back down to Tampa. As I pulled away from the toll booth and accelerated to about 60, the car to my left veered into my lane. The only thing that I could do was move to the right... really I just reacted and...

Roll Bars? by Bruce Yettra
Is a roll bar really needed ? Which make is actually protective, and won't interfere with my 1996 soft top with glass window? Aren't most of the roll bars available just decorative & don't really protect the driver in the event of a roll over? Aren't roll overs extremely rare in such a low riding...

NYT says Miata "gay by design"? by my_two_cent
Folks; See http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/12/fashion/12cars.html?_r=1&oref=slogin for the whole story, but the gist of it is that some cars are seen as "gay" and the Miata is one of them. Other gay cars are the Volkswagen Beetle, Mini Cooper, and Subaru Outback. Does it make sense to you to say...

Check engine light - fuel cap replacement FYI by CR
The check engine light came on for the second time in my 7-month old MX-5. It was caused by a fuel filler cap that didn't seal tightly - even after "click-click-click-click" tightening. Filler cap replaced under warranty by the local dealer. The service manager said they replace fuel filler...

engine stand placement by peter
Hi, my long awaited short block got home yesterday and looking at the manual, it says to mount the engine on its left side at the ps bracket...that seems a bit odd as I have always seen engines mounted via the back end. does it matter? it seems better to go for the back end...also what size...

Anybody know of a good diagnostic scanner/code reader by ajk170
I am hoping that some of you might have some suggestions about a good diagnostic scanner/code reader for my 2002 LS 6 speed. Not that it matters, but it has everything on her but a rear spoiler and the 6 disc changer. I'm not 100% certain (I'm sure another enthusiast can set me straight) but I...

1972 RX2 by zenmartini
Next door neighbor just picked up a 1972 RX2. 180k on the first engine. The second engine he's got 20k on. I heard it the other morning... there is no mistaking the sound of that rotary (I had an RX7) and I had to go look. It's in very nice condition. Pictures of it...

2000 Mazda Protege blue smoke at startup. Why? by [email protected]
My 2000 Mazda Protege is smoking blue smoke at start up until it warms up and then it clears up. Has abt 127k on it and I am the 1st owner and have taken great care of this car What is likely cause? Valve guides? Ring job? I was hoping this car would NOT develop such major wear at 127k. is...

Downshifting 101, Part Deuxx (2-1 & heel-and-toe) by [email protected]
Hello everyone. For those of you who missed out before, this series is about me learning to downshift (CGGW is my first stick-shift car). Right now where I'm at is, I've gotten to the point where I can do 3-2, 4-3, and 5-4 downshifts with reasonable rev-matching, but they aren't automatic like...

CarMD or similar device any good? by [email protected]
Anyone have experience or knowledge with one of these devices? It cost abt $90 and connect to the data port of your car and helps diagnose any problems. My 2000 Mazda Protege check engine light keeps coming on and the dealer wants $120 JUST to hook the analyzer up to it!!

My Miata bogs down in first by Bob1123
Can anyone help? My Miata bogs down when I release the clutch into first, it struggles for a bit, then gives me the acceleration I'm used to. Every other gear transition is fine. NOTE: this situations only happens when I'm driving my car "gently", i.e a standard traffic start/stop. Thanks.
