Car: 147-Selespeed. (2001/2002) Problem Description: While driving the (usually on “city” mode) the car would stay in one gear, i.e. 3rd, and would not change to a higher or a lower. Even when I try to use the gear lever. Even when I press the “city” button (to turn it off) it refuses. This led me...

changing brake pad 'cages' ?? by NC
Turns out that a long term knocking sound coming from the front of my 156 (1999, 1.8TS) is due to the brake pads moving in their housing. Any idea how much (in the UK) it might cost to get the cages changed ?? 9Not sure if 'cages' is the right word - its the caliper bit where the pad sits).

I just bought a new sim-card for the telephone in the connect nav+ system of my alfa 147. I've got the system working once, but it seems very unstable. Most of the times when I want to dial a number it gives the message "Connection not available", and it will not dial. The strange thing is that I...

Air Con Serviced but still hot air by Mr Flipflops
Ok guys, the air con has been serviced at £100 plus £30 for a new pollen filter. It hasn't solved the problem (hot air instead of cold). According to the dealer, there is a mixer motor behind the dash that they think might be causing the problem. Obviously, this requires the dashboard to be...

Air Conditioning Playing Up On '00 156 by Stuart Ewen
Hey Guys I never had air conditioning in my previous car, so I thought it would be relatively straightforward to use. Last night, however, it was really getting under my skin. Thought I'd make it cooler, so turned it down from 21 to 18. The fan starts blowing harder like you'd expect, but the...
