oil pressure gauge question by
[email protected]
I just bought a 98 Explorer Sport. The oil pressure gauge reads exactly
dead center all the time the engine is running, whether at 600RPM or
4000RPM. Is this normal? This is my first Ford and I every other car
I've owned showed some fluctuation in oil pressure with varying engine
speed.
Thanks in...

1991 Ford Explorer Dipstick Breaks by
EJB
I have this explorer that keeps breaking the dipstick when I put it in the
motor. I've replaced the tube and the dipstick both but it keeps breaking.
Right on the tip like its twisting off. Anyone ever had this problem know
what to do about it? I seem to recall newer 4.0l motors had a dipstick...

Does anyone know if that model came with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs stock? I
am trying to change mine out and put Silverstars in there and it looks like
they have the same model number on the bulb in there.

Drivers side door won't open/shut (cold, winter, ice) 2002 FE by
Some Dude
I live up in Vermont and have had this problem since last year that is
bugging me and I want to solve it. When I get up in the morning I
cannot open the drivers side door (it feels like its frozen shut). I
then have to go in the drivers side rear door and lean over the seat
and manually pull the...

"Check AdvanceTrac" light comes on by
Larry Brown
Jim:
Thanks for the reply. Here is what I know so far:
1) My code reader will not read any codes from the 4x4 module.
2) The problem only happens when the car is very cold, overnight on a
freezing night. If it doesn't get cold, the light does not come on.
The coorelation to cold nights is pretty...

Cold start trouble by
coavsfan19
When I start my 98 explorer xlt 4.0 SOHC in the mornings the engine
immediately races to 2500-3000 RPM and drops to less than 1,000 RPM, then
back up, then down and sometimes dies, at low RPMs it runs real rough. All
of this happens until the engine gets good and warm.
Any ideas what it could be...

RECALL on 2002 Explorer.... by
Dr. Rastis Fafoofnik
Finally got Ford to do the recall on the rear window hardware (gas struts
and hinges).
Be advised there is ANOTHER recall coming down the line (if you have not
gotten it already).
The painted area under the window is plastic, painted to match the body
color. Ford admits they have been cracking,...

Stereo trim removal issue by
tmy13
Last night I removed the trim from around the stereo in my '02. Not
thinking ahead, I simply used a screwdriver and created several
indentations in the vinyl dash where I was prying.
Does any know of a way to remove or smooth over these indentations? I
was hoping that since the dash had some...

What's with the harsh ride on my '02? by
knagy389us
I run the OEM Michelin Cross terrains on my '02 and man does it ride rough.
Bone jarring some times, have to check my filling after a while. (I really
miss the air ride of my Expedition) I run the 32/35 recommended psi's.
Anyone remedy this with shocks and/or tire change?

help! punctured gas tank by
Janet
I hit a rock with my 2003 Explorer today and now my gas tank is
leaking. ARGGGH, I wasn't paying close attention because it was a grassy
road I've driven many times but a new rock showed up hidden in the tall
grass. I'm not sure what the hole looks like ie: crack/hole etc because
I'm waiting for...

roadtrip to Alaska in '97 xlt by
fog-dog
I am considering something really crazy and that is to road trip to
Alaska from Georgia in my '97 xlt. Is this a death wish for my vehicle?
It is in good conidition with about 230k miles on it. Maybe Ford
would sponser this madness, probably not though.

New Design - Long Life?? by
Ken
Greetings!!
Have one of the new design '02 Explorers. Just passing 37k on our V-6
Limited that have been basically trouble free miles (except, of course,
for the new rear end and hopefully someday a new hatch on the back). Was
wondering what kinds of issues are cropping up for those of you who...

No brake lights! by
Dan Hall
I just noticed yesterday I have no brake lights- zilch- zip- none at all. I
usually check every so often to be sure they are working, so I don't think
they were out long. I would likely had a roadside counsel with the long arm
of the law too. Here's what I tried today-
Checked fuses

Engine Change by
How complicated, and should it even be done, to change the v6 in a 99
EddieBauer Explorer to a 302 or other V8 engine. Can the existing
transmission be reused? Engine Mounts? Wiring? I'm just not happy with the
performance of the V6.

Hi I have a 1999 Explorer XLS, I have cloth seats and they are not

99 Explorer headlights always on. by

I have a 99 Ford Explorer. When I started the vehicle last night I noticed
that the lights turned on automatically. As I backed out of the driveway
the car suddenly died. It took several minutes for it to start again.
Now, the lights stay on as long as the vehicle is on but the vehicle

'99 Explorer Fuel pressure problem by
Tim South
I've been doing some troubleshooting on my Explorer recently. It suffers
from the hard to start problem as many others do. Sure enough, I found that
the fuel rail pressure bleeds to zero almost instantaneously after it's shut
off. The other interesting thing is that the fuel pressure reads 64PSI...
