1st oil change and Thompson remote filter by
James[_7_]
I read with interest the posts relative to the fun of a Miata oil change.
The Thompson remote really looks to be the ticket.
I have one question - and this question is probably the sole reason my Miata
doesn't have a remote filter. As it is, I use disposable baby diapers
strategically placed to...

Removing Wax from Pock-Marked Hood by
KKennedy
My beloved '99 has a seriously pock-marked hood and front fenders.
Meteorite damage, I am sure. I did not become truly aware of this until I
waxed the car and was left with white wax speckles all over these surfaces.
Any thoughts on how to remove them? Such as a wax stripper?

Radio-CD Player Stopped Working by
KKennedy
Driving my '99 Miata yesterday, I noticed that the same song from the CD
inserted in the Mazda Bose system was repeating. I pressed the random
button, and the whole unit stopped functioning. No matter what buttons I
press, nothing happens. The antenna stays down, but the
clock/station/whatever...

If the range isn't sufficient I guess you could replace the batteries
with Energizers? Then it would keep going and going and going and..

Can someone run a Carfax report for me? by
Iva
I'm looking at a 2002 with only 29,000 miles on it, in pretty good
condition and at a not-too unreasonable price. VIN is
JM1NB353520234402 if someone can run it for me.
And it's red too. ;-)

Clunking noise during hard cornering in autocross event by
G. Mack
I have a 96 Miata with only 39K miles that I bought used a few months
back. I was at an autocross event the past weekend and heard a
clunking noise a few times during my earlier runs during hard
cornering. I didn't notice anything in my later runs, but I wasn't as
jerky in my later runs either. ...

R12 to R134a conversion in MX5 Miata by
Rich Hampel
Anyone have a 'handle' on converting the AC compressor oil in a 90
Miata from R12 compatible to R134a, etc. Any hidden items/issues I
should be aware of, etc.
Whats been your experience in AC efficiency after conversion to R134a,
etc.?
Thanx

Water in the passenger footwell by
CR
There have been a few torrential rains in the area recently. After the
rain storms, there was a substantial puddle under the passenger seat of
our 2006 MX-5. Where could it be getting in? It *seems* the water is
coming from under the bulkhead behind the seat.
Yes - the top was up!

Time for a new suspension? by
Chip L
'90 w/ 96,000 miles
Purchased the car 2 wks ago. Car is in stunning condition.
I suspect that the suspension/shocks may be worn. The car occasionally
bottoms out in the rear. It also shudders on rough surfaces. Front /
steering feels very tight.
How can I tell if shocks are shot?

How would you like to find this? by
pws[_1_]
Posted to the Austin list. This is supposedly a barn/storage building in
Portugal that was locked up and welded shut for at least 15 years. Worth
looking at for some of the old cars if you like them.
This would take forever to sort out, but what a fun...
