This is why I find it hard to stay away from iRacing... by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
I'm two weeks into my second month on iRacing, and although none of my schizoid
love it/hate it instincts have gone away, I have finally discovered a keyboard
shortcut which makes movie making more viable in iRacing. That led me to put
together this...

Anyone know how to get a Steam refund before F1 2010 goes live in the UK? :-) by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
The trouble with this split release rubbish is that I get to sit and stew for
several days reading poor reviews and disappointed comments.
In truth this is exactly what I was expecting. It's Codemasters FFS! And anyone
with half a clue could easily read between the lines on those interviews where...

iRacing finally gets its act together by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
....in the form of the MX-5.
Yes, the new Williams F1 car is grabbing much of the limelight (and there's a great
3 month, car & two track package for new customers) but I spent most of my day off
yesterday racing the MX-5. It was simply superb fun, and I think I did more road
races in one day than...

NKPro 1.3 - Hill climb at Trento is a must have by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
NKPro finally gets a track which will ensure I put some time and effort into it for
a change. This long, winding climb up a mountain is a real test of your skills, and
although nobody could accuse the new rain effects of being perfect, they are
surprisingly convincing once you get into the swing of...

NFS Shift 2 $18 shipped at EA Store by

Ok, I just had my "that justified every penny of the purchase" experience.
In Shift1 it was the Nordschleife which made me grin, and in the right car, with
the right stabilising tweaks, I found the immersive graphics and overall...

rF2 updating by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
I've been pretty impressed by this in the past. But I've just spent an hour messing
about trying to get myself updated from whatever the last version was to whatever
the current version is and the end result was me rage-quitting and uninstalling the
whole thing. I just couldn't get the updated mod...

Back when I was still paying attention to pCARS I too had no problems... though
that was because I was installing it from scratch every time. :-)
I decided to take a break for six months...

iRacing hits 9000 axctive drivers in May by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
That's 9000 who participated in at least one race in one series. What it tells us
about the overall state of play with so many dead series is a different matter.
Growth does seem to be steady and fairly linear though, and the graph Darren Marsh
posted in the New Drivers thread does have enough...

I'm getting lazy in my old age. The 'new features' in Race 07 haven't -- so far --
persuaded me to raise the energy to aim the mouse in the right direction to
download it. I sort of feel I already own about five...

Best rFactor mods? by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
I'm on another sabbatical away from iRacing and, as usual, find myself messing
about with all my other sims looking for a bit of stress-free, offline AI racing to
scratch the racing itch.
LFS is out because the AI is shockingly poor. GT Evo has failed to grow on me even
though it probably offers...

Help! iRacing resistance breaking down thanks to Week13 fun races by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
I need a bit of rational perspective from you guys. I'm inside the iFence for
another couple of months (on the half price offer from a while back). But next week
is the Week13 'fun' week, where iRacing stops being a racing concentration camp and
becomes more of a holiday camp instead. (Well, they...

iHave sinned! [Episode 23, in which Andrew McP iRents more cr*p] by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
Regular viewers will be familiar with the schizoid adventures of Andrew McP in
iRacing-land. You will be sick and tired or reading about his whiney, in-out,
in-out (shake it all about the track) trips to the virtual world where nothing is
free except the speech in the forums... well, sort of. It's...

World Racing Series demo - well worth a look by
Andrew MacPherson[_2_]
http://www.worldracingseries.net/
Not the prettiest sim engine in the world, but perfectly adequate. And with all the
aids turned off this trip around Lime Rock is -- IMO anyway -- rather impressive.
It felt a little sterile at first, but with the aids off I soon started to push the
envelope and...

Can't report how kosher this is, and I haven't needed to try it, but apparently
this German site has a 1.1Gb demo available for download. News and download sites
will no doubt spread soon enough if it's for real.
