Should I buy this bus? by
Cory Davis
So, I found a bus that I really love. Let me know what you think about
it, any positives or negatives that there might be that I would'nt
know about. Also, does anyone have a ballpark on what the repairs
mentioned below would cost?
Here is the description:

What sort of mileage do you guys get? by
scream[_2_]
Just wondering how many miles you guys get out of a tank? I have a
1600 1302s 1971 semi auto. I've been tuning mine myself and it never
seems to be right. Runs perfect one day and won't idle the next, but
also seems to cost quite a bit of gas. How much difference would a bad
tune make to fuel...

Wanting to join the club... by
Cory Davis
Hello VW enthusiasts. I decided about 6 months ago that I NEEDED an
older (pre 1980) VW camper van. I have been searching ever since that
time, and I think I will purchase one within the next month.
I don't know what it is about them, perhaps the possibility of long
road trips and adventures, or...

Determine main bearing size by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have a question about ordering main bearings. I am replacing the
crankshaft in my case with a new, counterweighted crank. I don't have
the old bearings. I have the old crank. A shop put on the #3 bearing
for me but said I'd need to bring my case in to get the right size #1
bearing, which I...

It's good to be remembered. Maybe. by
Shag
I just dropped my '64 off at our local VW guru's shop. I told him
he'd worked on my beetles in the past but that he probably didn't
remember me. He's going to sort out the electrical gremlins in my
beetle. Just as I was about to leave he said "Hey, aren't you the guy
who cut the fenders up on...

VWs in Hot Rod mag by
Randall Post
The current (August) issue of Hot Rod magazine has a 10 page article of text and
pics (more pics than text) about drag and street aircooled VWs. The article is
primarily about the transition of a make that in stock form ran the 1/4 mile
in 23 seconds into one that did it in under 10 sec in hot...

ISS Brand Connecting Rods by
Scott Sansom
Guys,
I just bought some connecting rods for a 40hp stock rebuild (64mm
stroke). The 1200cc 40hp stuff is starting to get kind of hard to find
so I've been buying some NOS stuff off of the Samba and eBay. The rods
I bought are branded "ISS" and are made in Japan. From looking at the
box I...

beetle jumping by
archibug
Hi,
I have a 71 superbug and it recently started having problems in the
lower gears, namely gear 1 and 2. Basically she starts up fine and
takes off but if I stop at traffic light, roundabout or anything and
then want to take off, she starts jumping. After about 2 jumps shes
fine and then takes off...

Clutch Slip by
MicroBiz
Over the winter I removed my engine out of my 61 beetle for cosmetic
reasons. Upon removal I noticed the throw out bearing was a bit was, it was
worn in the center, the hole was kind of ovalled.. I decided while I had the
engine out I would replace it.
So I ordered a new one not thinking to look...

VIN problems - bought a bug by
[email protected]
Hello everyone, just a quick question. I think I have been ripped
off.
I just bought a 1969 bug. I wasn't thinking straight on the VINs. The
dash one was gone, so I didn't think much of it because the older
models didn't have them. I grabbed the title and made sure it matched
the chasis. (under...
