97 ZJ remote problem by
J. Clarke[_2_]
The #1 remote on my '97 ZJ Limited is having problems. It was working
intermittently, I changed the batteries, and now it seems to be dead.
The Number 2 is working fine.
I've torn it down and cleaned everything that I can find that looks like
a contact. Still no joy.
Time to see the dealer?...

JK Roof Rack by
XAZ
I have installed a Yakima overhead rack system mounted on the
raingutters. Since top is fiberglass, and so are the gutters, will
this limit the load I can carry (like a spare tire)? Would i be
better with a rail system?

Steering let go by
North52
On the way home the steering completely disconnected on my 1998 wrangler,
I could just spin the wheel and nothing happened. Lucky for me I had just
gone through a 4 way stop and was only going about 40 mph. I hit the brakes
and it started for the ditch, I let off the brakes and rode it down the...

Summit racing exhaust separator comments by
J. Clarke[_2_]
<http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-900654/>
Needed to pull the y-pipe to get the oil pan off (1997 ZJ 5.2). A year
or so back I replaced the cat and everything behind it, the y-pipe was
slip-jointed into the cat with a U-bolt exhaust clamp and had had a year
of CT winter to get well...

ZJ Weird Oil Pressure Problem followup by
J. Clarke[_2_]
Well, finally got the pan off. Turns out I was right, there was an
effing maple leaf stuck to the pickup. There was other crud in the
pickup. Was getting dark when I got it off so I knocked off for the
night. Manana I pull the pump and pickup, clean out the pan and pickup,
put in a new oil...

Location of ground cables on 1995 ZJ 4.0 by
Lon
Found one towards the front of engine block on passenger side that heads
up to alternator and body ground.
Is there also a larger one somewhere on the rear of the
engine/transmission, and if so, where is it?
Having funny electrical issues at about 140K miles, all tend to be worse
when driving...

Weird oil pressure question by
J. Clarke[_2_]
1997 ZJ 5.2.
At startup, no oil pressure, can hear lifters clicking.
Turn it off, turn it back on, oil pressure comes up, no lifter noise.
Oil pressure is a little under 40 per the gage.
Give it a little gas and at somewhere between 1000 and 1500 RPM the oil
pressure goes away, no lifter noise.

Carlok on jeep rubicon 2005 by
ULB
It's been ages since I posted here. I thought I would give it a try
anyway.
I bought a jeep rubicon 2005 new back in the day. The dealer had put
in a carlok (spelled just like that). Its just a little remote that
when you push the button it allows you to start the car with the key
within 60...

Replacing plenum pan--what else? by
J. Clarke[_3_]
The plenum pan is a known problem on the Magnum V8s, Doug. It may be that it's too thin or that the dissimilar alloy to the manifold results in differential thermal expansion, but one way or another the gaskets die very young and there is an aluminum billet plenum pan that is thicker, stiffer, and...

Replacing plenum pan--what else? by
J. Clarke[_2_]
I'm about ready to replace the plenum pan on my '97 5.2 ZJ.
I'm wondering if there's anything else that I should do on general
principle while I've got it that far apart.
It got a new water pump, bypass hose, and thermostat about 10,000 miles
back.
And before anybody says "how do you know...

How to remove wire guard in 2002 Jeep Wrangler ? by
James[_1_]
I am putting new front speakers in Mod Pod enclosures, to be mounted on the
floor, adjacent to the bottom portion of the door frame. On the driver's
side, near the bottom edge of the door, there is a plastic wire guard
assembly, which runs from almost underneath the dash, to the point near the...

TPS sensor... :/ by
DougW[_2_]
Hmm. Had a couple downshifts on the highway (3-2) at no-throttle and a few hiccups when cruising lightly. Codes point to the
Throttle Position Sensor but the test shows it to be nice an smooth with no drop-outs. Passes the volt-meter test.
Transmission fluid is fine, no bubbles, correct level....
