Thank You by Bob Hoover
Darrell Daniels and his son Nick rolled up to the shop about noon today. I stumbled around pretending to know what I was doing whilst Chief Daniels picked up my 1965 bus and flipped her upside down, whereupon son Nick plucked out the starter. After cluck-clucking and shaking of heads they removed...

torsion-bar seals & squeals by SF Briarpatch (e)
I have recently begun driving my '70 bug after not driving it much for the last 6 years. (Short story: The brand new master cylinder that I used replace an old one 6 years ago turned out to be defective as well.) My first question concerns the rubber boots & seals on the front end. It looks like...

For the first time ever I had to have my beloved 'fat chic' towed home. Saturday I was out tooling around paying bills when I hear a bang, and several ExpensiveNoises from the engine compartment. I remove myself from the roadway and find that the threaded section of my alternator shaft decided it...

OT Started building a deck today by Shag
Man, that post-hole digger is gonna kill me! Tough work for someone who's used to a desk job. Some of those 16' long 2X10 pressure- treated boards get pretty heavy, too. It was a workout just loading the material on the flat-bed cart at Home Depot today, then loading it from there to my poor...

My 1974 Super Beetle is at a yard in Martinez, CA. It has been deemed a total loss. The transmission was rebuilt by Stuff and works perfectly. The rims were all powder coated and are still nice. The drums are all German and installed early last year. The wheel cylinders and hoses are all...
