Hello all. Hmm, Ghia was running great and just died. Symptoms were like out of gas. Still not starting so I tested fuel pump. The pump was not working so I replaced it and all the fuel lines/filter. I cranked it and nothing. The VW spec for the pushrod was 13mm or 1/2". I measured 1/8"...

'73 Karmann-Ghia by ilaab
My quick story is that I have an '08 MINI Cooper Clubman that I use mostly for the weekends and long distance driving for my hobbies. I put too many miles on it too soon so I want a daily driver. Background: My mother bought a new '65 Beatle when I was about 2 and my uncle had a dark green...

I am having a problem with the brakes on my '73 Super Beetle. The brake light always comes on when I press the pedal, although I know that all four brakes are engaging and there is not a pull to either side. The brake pedal felt firm as well. Yesterday I replaced the front shoes and the light is...

Hello! I've been hanging around here off and on for a looong time, but I finally have a VW of my very own that I could use some advice with. '74 Super - shifting problems by Nellis
I have a '74 Super that has been running well, but just recently started having shifting problems. When shifting from 1st to 2nd the car goes into 4th gear. I can go into 3rd with no problem. Occasionally I can move the shifter around and get it into 2nd, but not consistently. Any thoughts?

'74 Super battery problem by carl mciver

My 1974 super is having problems where the car starts and runs just fine but none of my accessories work. I sometimes works if I jiggle the key in the ignition. '74 Super Beetle Engine stops problem solved by warlock
Thanks to all you responded. My engine kept stopping at least once a day. I would drive 30 mph and the engine would just stop. I looked at the idle solenoid to make sure it wasn't loose - it wasn't- and I noticed that the quick connector of the idle solenoid was touching the quick connector...

'74 Swing Axel Wheel Bearings by Juper Wort
Just about to do wheel bearings on the beetle and need to clarify one point. Haynes says that the large O ring goes over the bearing, when seated. Rob & Dave suggest large O ring goes into cover plate. I would guess that the end result is the same, but which if any, is likely to be more successful...
