1968 Type1 Washer Bottle connections by
Spike
Hi all,
Have started to take a look at my washer bottle in my '68 1500 Type 1 (UK).
(type where you pump up the bottle direct)
I seem to have mislaid (if I ever had it) the fill cap.
I have all the other connections, but can't test the assembly without the
fill cap (I presume).

tachometer by
Anthony W
Anybody try one of those 2" VDO tachometers? Along the way of replacing
my oil pressure gage, I installed a 3 hole gage panel over were the old
speaker hole was. I had to do a bit of cutting with my dremmel tool and
went through almost a whole pack of those tiny cutoff wheels but it fits
well and...

Seat Belts by
Danny
Evening All,
We have a 79 SB convertible and the seat belts don't retract as they should.
Is there any way to fix them or should they be replaced? Either way where
is a good place for parts or replacements?
Thanks,
Dan

My generator check set-up by
Crusader george
before I install a used generator , I spin it on a test stand and check
the volts. It's a old washing machine motor set to spin the generator.
It could be used to check regulator & generator.
does save some work putting it in the car to find out it or them are bad.

Type I Clutch Cable by
Doug
I have a 1967 Type I Beetle with a stock diaphragm clutch. The clutch
cable breaks every couple of years. It always breaks at one of the ends
where the cable is crimped into the fitting. It never breaks anywhere in
between. I always grease the cable upon installation. Is this common to
break this...

I put in the spare engine 1300SP into the bug and dissasembled the old
engine for inspection. I already contacted a machine shop (not familiar

Oil pressure wars; the saga continues by
Anthony W
Well I swapped out the relief valve springs... I removed the EMPI
spring in the rear valve (dual relief case) and the 1 of the other
springs I had felt (by gosh by golly method) to be about half way
between the stock spring and the EMPI after market one so I put it in.
None of the springs I had...

1971 Westy 1600 Stalling by
Roger
Hey guys,
Question: When I push in my clutch and hit the brakes, my bus is
stalling. It does not matter what gear I am in or whether I down shift
to slow then hit my brakes. Both lights (oil/gen) come on when stalled
and a quick turn of the key or releasing the clutch while moving gets
me going...

VW Polo - starts, then revs suddenly high, then dies by
[email protected]
Hi, I bought a 1996 VW polo 1.9 diesel in March. It's been great,
except that since I got it it's had trouble starting. It will always
turn over as soon as I start it, but then after about 10 seconds the
revs will suddenly double from idling speed and then die completely.
You can sometimes 'catch'...
