Whatever happened to Shad Laws? Interesting thread with comments onthe samba... by bugnut68
I remember Shad Laws used to frequent RAMVA back in the day, but haven't seen his postings in years. His name came up in a Samba thread about LN biral cylinders, was surprised to see it appeared he'd made a bad name for himself in a certain...

What Is the Best Fuel Pump for Ethanol Gas? by Jim Ed
My Beetle’s engine stalled today while I was on the highway. First I thought it was caused by vapor lock. I waited for it to cool off. In an attempt to cool it off, I even squirted some yellow liquid on it when no vehicles were coming . Fuel was getting to the fuel pump but, it would not pump.

The most fun I've had recently by VFW,
Getting onto the freeway on a rather tight curve I look in the rear-view and what do I see but some monster SUV tail-gating . Well, true to the rear engine world I enter the curve down shifting into 3rd and slowing, as they get even closer, I punch the little 1776 cc motor and ... they never...

WORKS OF BOB HOOVER by Howard Jenkins
Does anyone have a copy of the "Complete works of Bob Hoover" ? I know most of his writings are on the web, but at one time they were offered as a CD. The book stores that carried this CD are no longer able to supply a new copy. Please help.

71 Ghia battery cables crossed by Steve Mc
Had it in for some body work, and the body shop crossed the battery cables. It was actually driven a few miles with the crossed cables. A mechanic did have to replace the voltage regulator, and possibly a few other things. Question: Could those crossed cables also blow the wiper motor ? It...

Rear Hubs - guess everything eventually wears out by G_Group
I was tightening up the rear brakes of my semi-daily driver yesterday ('65 Beetle) and was disappointed to see that both sides were nice and wet. Yep, the hubs are AGAIN leaking. I don't drive the car that much any more but it is discouraging to have to replace the seals every 1000 miles or so. ...

Over and done with by P.J.Berg[_3_]
A full year until next time. Yeah, by the way, worn out all season tires are no good in -17C.. I saw -23C in the car tonight up to my mothers for Christmas dinner, can you say cold? It gave slippery a whole new meaning, the yellow traction light was more on than off. A few pints in the Pallace...

Cold start flapper. by DogDiesel
I'm watching the old History channel vw show. And the owner of a 50s VWs had to run the engine in winter. For about 10 minutes . Get out, pop the hood and close the cold start flapper. Get back in then drive on. Anyone think a cable to the flapper with a lever would be a better idea....

'77 std. bug for sale by Tim Rogers
This your last chance if anyone here is interested in this bug. It's been a RAMVA car since before I bought it from Earle Horton eight years ago and I'd like to see it go to someone who appreciates it and can keep it on the road in its current condition. It still has a RAMVA sticker in the back...

Vw choices by DogDiesel
I may end up getting another clean 85-92 Golf or Jetta with a Diesel. Or god forbid, a Diesel Vanagon. I'm being open minded about the Bug. If the right one comes along. But less maintenance, cheap available parts.better heat and better mileage. Might win. Even though the bug is very very...
