164 oil consumption question by
Emjay
Hello folks,
I guess this has been asked here before, but here goes....
I approximate the oil consumption of my 2.0 TS 164 to be about 1 litre
for every 900 miles.
The car has done 94000 so far, and is otherwise in good condition. It
doesnt appear to blow smoke of any sort, and runs well. I'm...

My GT test drive thoughts by
PhilipS
Hi everyone,
Took a GT 2.0 JTS out for a test drive on Saturday, thought I'd share
my opinions with the group (for what they are worth!), I would welcome
other people's opinions, as I am very seriously thinking of buying.
My comparisons are to my current steed - 147 1.6 lusso.
Overall, I was...

Alfa 147 1.6 Service costs by
Jonathan Day
Hi
I recently booked my 147 1.6 Lusso into Caledonia Preston (lancs) for its
36K service and need fell off my chair when they gave me the price £355
+VAT. Along with the brakes that will probably need doing I will likely face
a £500 bill.
This is just the thought of thing that will put me off...

Are the Alfa 156 any good? by
Laurence
Hello all,
I know this is possibly the wrong place to ask, but I am considering
getting an 01/02 Alfa 156 2.4 JTD. But am hearing mixed reports about
the reliability of the car and how well it is put together. Now the
question is are these concerns justified?
Thanks for any help.

Turbo on 164 if possible by
Yoeri Gemeen
Hi guys,
Could it be possible to put a turbo on the 164 3.0 V6 (183pk).
Since they have made turbo models etc ... I know it would be quitte an
operation,
but I'm willing to take that risk. If this is possible, where can I find
information
and much more of it. Maybe someone can give me the plans or...

Talk me out of buying a 166 by
[email protected]
I'm thinking of buying a used 166, maybe a '99 and almost certainly a
3l V6 auto. The problem is that I am rather scared of the costs
involved after I purchase. There's a baby on the way and I don't have
much cash so the last thing I want is a massive bill when something
goes wrong.
Can anyone...

Report: Alfa Romeo 4C to sell at Maserati stores by
[email protected]
The rocky road that is Alfa Romeo's return to the United States has taken yet another twist, as rumors are sprouting that the sleek, new 4C sports car will follow in the footsteps of the 8C Competizione and go on sale at Maserati dealerships. The 8C was sold exclusively at Maserati dealers in the...

Starting in the cold by
R C Nesbit
The 159 doesn't.
It is usually reverse parked on the drive (slopes down from
the road) and for a few weeks now it has taken 2 or 3
attempts to fire, but since last weekend it has been
refusing to start except with jump leads (embarrassingly
from my Son's SO P-reg Escort diesel van)
Once...

I would like advice please on the pro's and indeed, cons of buying a second

Alfa 166 ICS Unlock Code by
Tombadthebad
I've got a broken ICS unit in my 166 (actually its only the backlight
that's gone but nobody can fix it!). Alfa want > £1000 for a recon
unit, but I'd much rather keep the cash and get a cheap unit from
specialist breaker.
This presents the problem of retrieving the unlock code for the...

where to fit oil pressure and temperature gauge to twinspark engine by
Mark N
Just as the subject line says...
I would like to install a oil pressure gauge, alongside a oil temperature
gauge (i like gauges) but am not sure how to do this. I did this on a VW i
had a few years ago and it was just a cast of removing a bolt from the
engine block and screwing the pressure...
