'74 Type 2 Bay - Seals around engine compartment by Ed Jones
Hello All. How important are the seals which go around the base of the engine compartment in a type 2 bay? I'm looking after a camper (for my parents in law) with a newly installed 1641cc engine, and the garage didn't fit any seals around the new engine, so essentially you can see through the gap...

OT Pickup Truck by Bill Berckman
In the states, most true rednecks (not posers) drive an American made F-150 or the Chevy version of the same thing. Toyota and Nissan trucks just don't cut it. They go to the local country bar and pick up a nice looking lady and drive off in the truck in hopes of a meaningful one night...

Sometimes Fate smiles by Mike Rocket J. Squirrel Elliott
.. . . and sometimes she doesn't. In this case, she was in a good mood. Re-charged the old e-can with new activated charcoal, re-mounted it with new hoses. No problem, I now have the Wonderbus back to its original 1971 CA emissions setup. Hardly a job worth bragging about, but for me, anything...

Woodburn Bug Run June 2004 pictures are available via Rose City Volksters. Lots of cars and swap and event pictures. I think all show winners are there, too. I posted 6 pages of thumbnails linked to individual images: http://www.rosecityvolksters.com/Woodburn%20images/index.htm Or go to...

Weak Semiphores - are they still good? by MATT S.
Hi all I am in the process of getting 1955 ragtop with semi4's. Owner told me the semi's are acting tired - with the switch engaged, they want to rise but don't seem to have the strength. One they are up, they stay up, and will lower when the switch is disengaged. I read somewhere that either...

Quick Parts Question by Rebecca
Since there isn't a good place to get VW parts within 200 miles of here I've been ordering off the web. Just wondering if there are good and bad places to go. I've been using CIP1 because they take paypal, where all my money is and SoCal Auto Parts because I can't find lower priced parts. Where...

Need a '62-'67 taillight housing. Help? by Chip Keller
Hi All, I'm midway through the paintwork on the '66 and have discovered that the original RR taillamp housing is rusted out on the bottom. I know this is a common spare, but yards are few and far between here (Ohio). A cheap spare would be far easier than welding the thin, perforated metal that's...

wheel cylinder by DB
I've been losing brake fluid for the past season in my stock 56 oval & finally found the source (well, it really revealed itself). My right front wheel cylinder is now leaking pretty seriously. I've looked at Bentley for "how to" but reading the lack of detail leaves me a little...

"No garage" classic car insurance available? by MATT S.
Hi, I'm looking to insure my soon to be 1955 bug. I will NOT be putting 2,500 miles/year on the car, it will be driven to shows and for lesiurely drives only. However since my wife's car has 'custody" of the garage ( part of our deal for me to get this car) I therfore, do not have a garage to keep...

Has Anyone installed a VDO Electric Speedometer? by Scott
AS luck would have it I replaced the mechanical old VDO speedometer in my dune buggy with the newer electronic version. After calibrating the thing on a true mile distance and getting it to work, the needle movement is worse than the damn gas gauge splashing around. Way to much lag and jump in...
