Knock Knock by R C Nesbit
Had a new tyre fitted to front n/s on the 156 recently. Drove away and at the first turn a LOUD knocking from the front wheel, so turned around, did some circles on the ind. est. where the tyre place was, then went back and insisted they have a look. (by then the noise had gone quieter, but...

PICS: BYE BYE to the Alfa Romeo 159 by JLA
From IT Speed ************ The yanking last month of the Alfa 159 from the company’s UK pricelists signals the wind-down of production of this D-segment sedan, its sales on all markets being already limited to just small handfuls. With the replacement Giulia now delayed until at least the second...

Help me diagnose this splutter... by GT[_14_]
156 2002, 2.0 JTS petrol. I (the car)had a splutter/cough a year or so ago and it eventually went away on its own. Its come back now and I would like to at least figure out what is causing it, if not fix it. The problem: Its independent of gear (done it in 3rd, 4th 5th). I don't tend to rev over...

Handbrake cable... by GT[_14_]
....snapped. (2.0JTS 156 saloon 2002). There still seems to be some tension when I pull the level ALL the way up, so perhaps the cable is just snapped on one side (there are two rear cables?). After an unfortunate 'rolling way' incident when the car was young, it is left in gear at all times...

Workshop manual? by R C Nesbit
Anyone have or have a source for a workshop manual for the 147 and/or 2.0TS engine? I bought one on-line, but it is sketchy and not really worth the £7 I paid for it! -- Rob Pearson 156 1.9jtd sportwagon (now) 164 V6 Lusso (gone)

Tyre wear by TonyB
Hi all, I've got feathering of one rear tyre, the offside, only. It's on the inside edge. It's a 156 JTDm, all new Pirellis were fitted a few months ago and the tread depth is still good apart from this obvious area of wear. Garage says it's a trait of Pirellis which is clearly B******s. Any...

So *that* is what the whining noise was! by R C Nesbit
Started on the 156jtd on Saturday, a whining noise, raising and dropping with engine revs. Thought: "I'll take it to a man who can on Monday to find out what it is" Today, took the dogs for a walk (their mad hour hareing around the forest) and on the way back stopped at the local 7-11 for a...

Flashing dash LED on '98 GTV 2.0TS by IanE
I have a 1998 GTV 2.0TS which has been pretty reliable since I got it. One thing that has confused me and I've not got to grips with is that there is an LED on the dash which flashes permanently, whether the ignition is on or off. This hasn't been a problem but I haven't used the car for a few...

Alfa 156 Part No. by Malcolm Osborne
Would anyone have easy access to Alfa part numbers? After 287 000 Km, the aircon compressor on my 1999 156 2.0 TS is getting a bit noisy (bearings). I'm looking to get a used part. Might save me a trip to the agent to ask there. Malcolm Osborne South Africa

Newsgroup vs Facebook by Malcolm Osborne
Bert's remark in another post (Well, newsgroups are a thing of the 20th century,) refers. I had a look on Facebook - there are several Alfa Romeo pages there - must still explore them some more. The Alfa 156 page on FB seems to be mainly photos of owners cars, contributions in several...
